Our team is having a meeting about whether we will be working in-person or remotely in two weeks. What can I do to ensure that I continue to work remotely?

Hi all, for context I am a first year consultant out of school, and for the past 6 months I have been working remotely for our firm. I have loved every single minute of it from the freedom and flexibility to the better work-life balance, and do not want it to change. However, our team lead just scheduled a meeting with our whole group in a couple of weeks for us to decide our “post-covid plan” and I fear that it is code word for whether we will continue remotely. It’s great that we’re at least having a meeting on this instead of the outcome being decided for us, but I want to do whatever I can to ensure we stay remote. Any advice for me?

Don’t Let Them Say You’re Good Enough for the Job, but not Good Enough for the Pay

This is something that I'm finally learning for myself, and I wanted to make sure other people would hear it before years go by for them like they did for me. I've worked with my company for coming up 9 years. It was my first job after dropping out of college, and I was desperate to get my foot in the door anywhere. My friend was the manager at the time (left about a year after) and stuck his neck out for me hiring me. Doing all the work of a manager, but no pay raise?

Looking for some advice on what to do at my current position. I started at this company in Feb 2021, with 2 years of experience in this kind of work (I'm 26 now). 2 months into my engineering position, my manager quit for a different job. My company interviewed around for a replacement, but never found a candidate they liked. I wasn't considered because I was only in the company for two months. In the mean time, I took over the responsibilities myself, doing things like management reviews, trainings, dealing with money, and those responsibilities. I've talked with my current boss/supervisors have talked to me about intending me to be moved into that manager role officially, but it only comes up every 3-4 months, and always with the context of “When this becomes available”. A servers take on tipping

This was originally going to be a comment on a different post from this sub but it got looong and I’ve been wanting to say it for a while since I think waiters perspectives are somewhat lacking on this sub. If servers were paid minimum wage, with little exceptions, THEY WOULD ALL QUIT. take it from a server, serving can fucking suck, you do the best you can and still can get treated like crap for things outside of your control. Your coworkers can bail on you and now you’re doing the work of three people and on busy nights you’re there a least an hour after closing just to finish closing up. If I was told tomorrow that I’d be paid 10-12 dollars an hour to have to all this I would quit. There are less stressful jobs that pay the same. But in our capitalist batshit country the…

What would the repercussion of a expansion of the FAIR act to including all employees be for us? Would the state providing legal representation to workers be included in such an expansion? I ask this since generally, legal insurance policies generally exclude employment matters from coverage.

Just got fired for no reason (basically)

I got hired for this office job in a new city last month. We went through training for about two weeks and I thought I was doing ok until I got fired this morning. My manager said that I didn't possess the skills necessary for the job which I think is absolute bullshit and here's why They saw my resume and knowingly hired me. They said that I didn't have the “customer service skills” for the position even though they saw my resume, hired me, and worked me for two whole weeks. Two of the most senior people in my position said that I was learning very well. They claim to be very understaffed. So now they wasted my time and I'm unemployed. If you get anything out of this post, just know THESE JOBS DONT GIVE AF ABOUT YOU!!!!!
