I personally know a few large companies that have quietly stoped assigning employee numbers until their 2nd or 3rd promotion. All due to turnover being at unprecedented levels. Their ability to churn is the core of 90% of what workers complain about on here. I’m not sure where it would start. Lobbying, petitions? At the very least it should be the first question you ask an employer before you take the job. “I’m going to need total honesty here. This job listing has been up for a while yet I was able to get an interview pretty quickly. What is the yearly turnover rate for this position?”
Month: March 2022
I work for a small family owned business. There are five total employees. Two warehouse people, one counter person, me (secretary) and the boss/owner. Like the title states… My boss always gives me dates of his planned vacations and religious holidays. Because if he's out of town then I'll be needed to open and sometimes close. I always put the dates in my phone calendar as we discuss them. I have his days up until July. My husband and I planned our vacation last night for a week in August. I came in this morning an first things first give my boss the dates. “Oh those were dates I was going to be out of town”. I show him my calendar and say, “I don't have anything for you past July”. He says ” we must not have finalized it then”. Well if we didn't finalize it, then I did…
Why WFH should be here to stay
I filled my gas tank on February 13. It didn't need to be filled, it was still more than half full. I paid $24. This coming Sunday will be a full month since I've filled my tank. I may go to the store once this week, leaving me with between half and three quarters of a tank. When I was commuting, I was filling my tank every FIVE DAYS. The amount of gasoline my family has saved over the past two years could be hugely significant if everyone that could work from home is allowed to. My husband never has to go back, I'm changing jobs so I never have to go back. We know this is a privilege, and we are incredibly thankful. But it should be standard practice for anyone that can accomplish their tasks regardless of location.
Does this include never eating
She works for a national restaurant chain as a waitress and makes just below $3 per hour plus tips. We were talking about the minimum wage and she was INSISTANT that it not be raised because companies cannot afford it. So let me break it down, you see how this multi billion dollar corporation has money for countless buildings, advertisements and administrative salaries. But they can't give you more than THREE DOLLARS PER HOUR? TWNETY FOUR DOLLARS PER EIGHT HOUR SHIFT?????? REALLY???? Fucking brainwashed.
