How remote should be managed
All team members, contractors and guests are welcome to come onsite once the site has been declared reopened. At **** ************, we believe in a work model that prioritizes outcomes and connection. No matter how or where work gets done, team members can drive results and access limitless opportunities. As our sites reopen, some team members may choose to keep working remotely, some may want or need to come onsite from time to time, and others may need to be in the office five days a week – it’s all about choice and flexibility. It’s truly up to each team member on if or when they come to site.
I’ve always fancied myself good about not needing a lot of money or material things. I can be insufferable about it on my worst days, honestly, gleefully goofing on people who say they NEED marble countertops in their house to be happy. The joke’s on me, though. While many might still be outsourcing their happiness to material possessions, I’ve been outsourcing mine to an even more laughable need—achievement. This short but substantive video talks about the trap of debt. Materially, the more money you assume you need to be happy, the more “in debt” you feel despite having an otherwise plentiful salary. So far, so basic. But! Feelings of debt don’t only apply to monetary aspirations—we feel just as indebted when we chase unrealistic or exceptional achievement. It might feel nobler to say, “I’m not interested in money, just in being the BEST [insert career here] in the world.”…
Recently got fired, for the first time in my life. It was utter bullshit, but still left me feeling embarrassed, alone and hopeless. What I’ve found out since is that this happens to so many people, even good people who do good work get fired for bullshit reasons from large, reputable companies. So hit me with ya story! Sharing is caring!
Let me be specific that I'm talking about these story posts where people were mistreated at some (usually white collar, professional job) where they work very hard but aren't respected or compensated fairly, and they're lucky enough to stumble on a similar job with less work, more pay, with perks like working fully remote, without any sort of additional certifications or education. I'm in the job market right now and that just isn't the reality. Business owners, even the ones you don't work with, are still stingy with any type of remote work, constantly stating that, for that to be a possibility, you would need to work in the office “until you're trained” (for a job you're probably fully trained with) for at least a couple months. Pay is pretty stagnant unless you're willing to commute pretty far or even relocate (and good luck with that in this tent market).…
I’ve been in the restaurant industry for about 10 years and I’ve always struggled. I’m a server, used to working 2 jobs at a time just to put food on the table. If I could make close to $100 a day, 5 days a week I’d be fine. But most restaurants these days need full-time availability while only scheduling part-time hours. Plus with the pandemic, it’s much harder to make money since people don’t like to go out as much, and those who do tend to be the assholes who don’t like to tip. I majorly lucked out about 8 months ago and found a serving job at a swanky hotel. With this job I am pulling around $300 a day. I already live in a cheap apartment in an affordable area as that’s all I could manage to make work in the past, so I really only need to…

honestly just looking for some simple job to help save money and build up my resume, and to have something else to do with my time. ive had a couple of interviews in the past few days, both paying a couple or few dollars above minimum, and they ask these generic stupid questions which dont allow me to show absolutely anything about myself or my abilities. one of them sent me an email telling me they didnt want me an hour after the interview. just finished up at the other one and i already have a feeling it will be the same way. these dumb generic questions dont allow me to show you anything im capable of, what if i havent had any instances where i was told to do something i didnt know how to do? why do i need to have an answer? i may just have to…
