“Hey Team, take a look over this menu. It will be our initial cocktail menu, you will be tested on this info at a later time.” – my boss At my current job as a server/bartender for a local brewery we are in the process of creating an official “bartender” position and that position will be pouring drinks only and not taking care of tables. We are doing this because we are making big changes from beer only to including mixed drinks. The entire situation has been sketch because they are having us do “try-out” shifts (not classified as training) where we are not certain of how much we are being paid. These are to apparently see our “skills” however no information has been given on what exactly they are looking for, how we are being judged, etc. We don’t know how many bartender positions they are looking to hire…

Reform or revolution?
Seriously, what do you think it will take to improve the situation?
Title pretty much says it. There are tons of email applications that I sent in on the day the job was posted that have never been opened once. I can see opening it once and being like meh, but never even clicked on. On the other side some of my apps have been opened and looked at almost 40 times and never heard a word. To me its just an interesting insight into what is happening with our applications

I am thinking of quitting a job. For context, it’s a role which requires I use my skills and qualifications at a fairly basic level, and therefore i romp it in. I’ve been there for 4 – 5 years and everything’s been ticking along very nicely until the new manager arrived. Suddenly my work and motivation is being questioned and I’m being thrown under the bus to the board. And here’s the kicker. THIS IS A VOLUNTARY POSITION. It’s with a small community organisation that I feel very passionately about, and that I not only support with my time and expertise, but actually help fund with real $$$s. The biggest barrier to my leaving is my fear that the organisation may actually fall over without my support. All because we now have an incompetent manager on a power trip and why the fuck would I put up with that for…
It would at least help clean our image of do-nothing layabouts if we did. This is mostly a rant but idk I think I have something to say. It's just a lot of thoughts I've been having from listening to essays and books. The existential threat of capitalism can not go understated. It is beyond the obvious environmental problems we’re facing. If capitalism suddenly went green tomorrow, minding the inherent contradiction of a Green Capitalism, that would obviously not be the end of the problem. Our time on this earth is finite. Never forget that. Memento mori. It is far too short to spend it working 40 hours a week for most people including me. Some people, such as my mom and my coworkers, work 60 hours. A lot of people work even more. The thought of that is simply disgusting. It is inhumane. At this point I must clarify…
I quit my well-paying job and couldn’t be happier. Gave my notice 2 weeks ago and my last day is Friday. I have a professional white collar job. Good money. I’ve been fucking miserable for last 2-3 years. Hate being in an office all day. Hate the work. Feel like my work is meaningless and I’m going through the motions. My boss is a micromanaging sociopath who has put a target on my back. After 7 years of outstanding reviews, he started papering my file for bullshit reasons. I hit my breaking point. I finally got a correct diagnosis 9 months ago after years of mental health struggles. On the right meds and my mental health is better and more stable than it has been in years. But I felt how my job was slowly unraveling my hard fought mental health stability. I just said fuck it and submitted my…

Workers drop out of the workforce due to their exhaustion, disgust and frustration. Inflation explodes. Coincidence? We decide to live on less rather than take their abuse and they make it exponentially harder to live on less. Better shut your mouth get back to work so you can feed your family. The economy is manipulated to benefit the wealthiest.
