Guys no joke I'm from Mexico (sorry if some things don't make sense, english is not my native language) and I got an interview with a really good company, I'm so excited cus it's a good position. But the damn company literally gave me homework to do on this weekend. Firstly I have to make a pre interview, which I have to respond 18 questions to see if I got a 1on1 interview, fine I did them ( it was all made on video) Then the next day after they review the videos I got a mini interview that wasn't an interview, I had to take time of my work so they can tell us (i wasn't alone guys, the call was with the other people I have to compite for the position) what was going to be the next step Then they tell us what's going to be the…

Nobody is a “5”
I've worked at my job for over five years. I work hard, I'm not the type to pull out my phone and dilly dally. I care about the clients. I honestly spend all day, every hour, at work doing my actual job. I go above and beyond. I know nearly every client by name. I recently took a promotion, because the company has fixated on a different business model that requires universally trained employees. I have resisted promotions in the past, due to my own past management experience and the subsequent burnout. Plus I have two kids and with working full time, I didn't want to be a manager anymore. Anyhow, fast forward to now, and I'm in a new role for the last while , but staffing issues, like we all know over the last two years, have kept me from being able to fully train or develop in…
Why Not Seize The Work Force?
What is stopping people here from organizing based on what industry the work in, and starting companies paying themselves the same as top employees, at whatever you decide is really fair, and using the rest of the revenue to expand, invest, and provide benefits/perks, with set plans for climbing wage increases for new hires, or those with less experience (considerably higher than other companies). With a lot of money being used to expand, and the best wages around, you'd start to impact how other companies pay, because instead of consuming an industry you're consuming the work force and in turn getting more work done, the cost of your services stays the same as the rest so I believe you wouldn't be stepping on any toes or breaking laws would you? What is really stopping people from doing this? Why instead of hating capitalism, are you not using it to set…
I started working at my current employer about 3 years ago, Immediately placed in a team lead role.(“lead” as in “does more work but only slight pay increase” not a manager) While I'd like to say my time here was great I ended up under a shitty supervisor. I was expected to come early, stay late, work my ass off to cover the lack of workers, criticised for using all 15m of my breaks. Every day felt like a slog and constantly training new people due to high turnover was draining both mentally and emotionally. To be honest, I was planning to quit but then I was given an opportunity to work under another supervisor in a different wing of the food plant. Let me tell you, it was like night and day. My new supervisor was the polar opposite. From day one joining that crew, I knew I was…
Can Amazon legally do this?
In November of 2020 I was put on a LOA from having intestinal issues. (Which my doctor firmly believes developed at the warehouse from an injury involving a massive battery falling into my gut.) I was granted short term disability, and eventually long term disability. I had to constantly have them extend my leave, which caused several weeks where I skipped pay, then was paid with multiple “catch up” checks. (Please keep in mind these were paper checks, as this is important to the situation.) One such occasion was in March of 2021, where it took Amazon several weeks to review my medical paperwork and approve my extension from February through April. They cut four different short term disability checks for that month, one of which was a check for $598.26. This particular check bounced after being cashed at the local check cashing institution. This prompted the check cashing place…
English is not my first language so sorry in advance. About 12 years ago, I was a young student looking for a job before starting university. Got hired by a contractor that specialize in machinery cleaning for the pork meat processing industry. I got there at 10pm for my first shift ever, scheduled to work until 8am. On arrival, I get a quick breifing with my supervisor. He shows me a yellow jump suit and tells me to get dressed, with some rubber boots, gloves and safety glasses. No helmet, facial shield or mask. He then guides me on the shop floor, into a room full of dirty machines and 4-5 workers (cleaners) and tells me “This is where you work tonight. Just do the same as everybody else” and quits. So I get in touch with one of the guys and he is nice enough to introduce me to…
Pizza pizza peace out
I requested Friday off, and the store had to close early because the person covering for me didn’t bother to make pizza dough for the busiest day of the week. On Saturday morning I woke up to a text from the owner that said “please let me know directly when you need a day off, [manager who makes more money than me] cannot be trusted to make dough.” When I got in the restaurant Saturday morning everything was trashed, no dishes done and everything dirty. The very same manager who didn’t bother to prep also didn’t bother to clean anything before leaving. (He makes the schedule. He scheduled himself open to close.) I told the owner, and he left me on read. I am so necessary that when I needed one day off the restaurant had to close early. I make $15 an hour and live in poverty, which they…
