Everyone being forced back to work should reduce their productivity by 15-20%. When challenged they should mention that the office is distracting and the meetings take up too much time.

I work as a mortgage processor and have been with the company almost 2 years. I got hired when rates were at record lows, and business was booming. Since then it's slowed down, and they have done 5 big layoffs over the last 6 months with no notice to those they fired. Now with this recent layoff, they completely eliminated certain job roles that we used to have like a condo processing team, insurance review teams that they want processors to start doing on files with no extra pay. On top of that files processors they just let go were split up among the rest of us, and it's just so much work it's been stressing me out. I got so many dumpster files of nightmare loans that I just don't want to deal with. I hate they just lay off a bunch of people and want those who they…
I will start by saying I am a manager in manufacturing. I have 4 supervisors who report to me and 125 employees who report to them across 2 shifts. I do everything I can to be a good boss and leader. I say good morning to all employees on both shifts nearly every day. I am on site, 5:30 am – 5:45 PM every day except Tuesday when I leave at 5 to take my daughter to her tumbling class. I try my best to explain to all employees what decisions I am making and why I am making them. I have a personal, 1 on 1 conversation with employees at least once a week about something other than work. I try hard to be compassionate, but still get the job done for the company. That being said, we have really struggled over the last year to hit our financial…
Hi all, U.S. citizen here, I “retired” out of a very short career (less than 9 years) in mechanical engineering. It started off ok at my first company, then gradually got worse as I got new bosses and switched companies. Endless CAD drawing work, and less and less creativeness allowed, even as my salary increased over time. Finally, my physical and mental health broke down a year and a half ago at my last job, and I was forced to quit. No unemployment, but I was fortunate to have good savings, and found a private clinic to help with a physiological condition that became intolerable for quality of life. Insurance-sponsored healthcare would likely have failed based off my research, so did not dare to try that even. Anyhow, my completely worthless, useless skill is in designing, building, and flying walkalong gliders over the past 18 years. Yeah I'm sure you're…
Second post here based on my experience working in the Videogames Retail industry. One year my team and I made close to £250,000 profit for our firm. The majority of my team were youngsters (typically 16-22) and on minimum wage. They did Midnight Launches, 12 hour days, the lot. All because we felt the company cared for us, so we wanted to do our best. The only bonuses they got was from me. I had friends at the big publishers and format holders, which allowed me to get promotional copies of games. Our parent company gave us the equivalent of £10 per person for a Christmas Drink. I put more money into our drinking kitty than our company did. I made sure that my team learnt from my mistake. Don't kill yourself to make others grossly rich. Do your bit, but not to the detriment of your own life. That…
Oh, wagie!
Everybody in my department is already working 6 days a week. Don't threaten me with a good time. They'll never go through with it anyways. We're so short staffed. So what's the point of even making the threat?
So I quit the job but basically, we created automated systems and facilities the likes of which you can see anywhere online. The part I don't think people are catching on about is that new facilities are quietly created every day with much more automation than the existing facility. When fully automated, they call it a “lights out” facility because they turn the lights off due to there being no workers. These new facilities open up, take over the work of the old facility (and then some) and the old places close. Everyone is fired from the old facility, unionized or not. THIS is what terrifies me. I still believe Unions have a place in the workforce but as nobody works at the “lights out” facilities to tell the tale, they're increasing in numbers and will inevitably replace all our jobs. What do we do about this? Politicians are all…
The look on the young woman's face said it all. I could see actual fear in her eyes. I bought gas at Fred Meyer's gas station in Oregon, went to go give the woman a tip. She LITERALLY jumped away from me, throwing her hands back in the air like something was about to hurt her when I held out 2 FUCKING DOLLARS. Politely rejected the tip saying they would fire her if she accepted, was very adamant and serious. Fuck you Kroger really? We are one of the last few states that has a gas attendant, and you won't let them accept tips. You fucking suck. Spread the word
