The endless humiliations of working in Kroger's store don't just start with cutting the hours for the workers but extend to the way the customers are reacting to the empty shelves and higher prices. Today I had a customer come up to me and ask why there were so few workers in the store. The pharmacy was not opened for posted hours, the shelves were bare in many areas, and the deli was closed. A customer decided that now was the time to act and questioned me about the staffing problems. How dare I ask what the pay would be….
What’s going on in this sub with all the posts equating Russia and the US. “American Oligarchs” is not a term that has been touted about here until the last few days. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that all of this is happening to prop up Putin’s grossly unjustified war in Ukraine. Commenting about rich jerks fits fine to the sub but calling out rich jerks from one country and comparing them to the rich jerks of another is really just false equivalence to encourage people to be okay with Putin killing Ukrainian children. The poor and working class always suffer the worst during war. Why isn’t there more calls for unity and peace and so many comparisons of this rich jerk to that rich jerk? Is this sub actually just a Russian PsyOp?
Cutting a contracted shift
I am a new mother and work in a particularly large popular company for 2x 5 hour contracted part time shifts and 1x casual 5 hour shift. Yesterday I heard rumours that one of my contracted shifts is being given to someone else with no work from the manager. I’m not sure if it’s true, if the shift is being moved to a different department etc. With my baby I’m not particularly flexible and they know that, we agreed on these contracted hours before I came back from leave. Today I’m going on to ask if it is being given up. Is so; why, have I done something wrong?, will this shift be immediately replaced in a different department etc. I’m going through the EBA before I go to make sure I’m on the right path. Is there anything else I should be asking? Are my questions appropriate?. It doesn’t…
