Stupid assessments in the application process

I've been applying for a new job after receiving a dismal 'raise' — more like a pay cut since it didn't even cover the COL — and am just disgusted at the whole process. Those 'assessments' they give you to determine if you'll be a good drone….just WTF?? How is that even legal for them to do that kind of crap?

New Starting pay makes me want to quit.

I’ve been working at this company for over a year and I started at $15/hr and have gotten several raises since then. I got a couple of 50 cent raises and changed my shift times to be worse for me, but to get even higher pay. Then I was making about $19/hr. They say that I’m a really good fit for this company and throughout my time with them I have shown some really excellent ability to adapt and improve our operations systems. Because of that I was promoted and I’m currently responsible for cleanliness and consistency in our warehouse operations and I also got a raise to $20/hr. I have to do way more technical work than everyone else, except for managers, and now our starting pay for brand new employees is $20/hr! (Great for them honestly) The boss is pretty cheap with everything so it’s hard to get…

I’m thinking about quitting my family business

So, I’ve always worked at my wives family business. I became a partner in 2015 when they decided to open a new location. I worked hard there to bring up sales. This wasn’t easy and I worked long hours, sometimes around 70 hours a week. My father in law fell I’ll shortly after we opened this location and most of the responsibilities fell on me, which I was fine with. Unfortunately my father in law passed and I continued at that location and made it pretty successful inspire of many competitors nearby. In 2018 my mother in law approached me at work tearfully and asked if I would go to another location where at the time her brother was running. Apparently her brother had mismanaged the business so badly that it was just barely still in the black. Sales were low, customer satisfaction was low, employees were basically doing what…

Today I got short-changed, after already tolerating verbal abuse and (mostly) immature staff.

To start this off, I'll explain that I'm a server. I work for a family owned restaurant with 3 co-owners, who are all related. I dishwash on the side for the same restaurant. I have been working here between 3-4 months now, and the longer I work here the more issues I seem to have. Some, but not all of these frequent issues include: •The 3 Owners, screaming at eachother and verbally degrading staff for making mistakes. •Normal 2-Faced Cattiness from waitstaff, but also several of the kitchen staff AND owners.. Blatantly insulting and verbally abusing eachother on a regular basis. Examples include: One of my coworkers screaming calling another one of my coworkers a bi**h, Waitstaff and Kitchen staff trash talking other servers, and the owners telling servers they're basically as bad as beginners for making simple mistakes, etc. Basically just unnecessary levels of assholery. •Having me work with…

While my nephew was told in the interview that it’s “not done to ask about vacation days”, I was doing a cringe bingo on their bathroom poster. “Family” check, “Trying to hard to be relatable” check.

My annual review was positive and I still got a pay cut

I was told I'm not getting a raise more than 3% which is less than a dollar an hour raise for my positive annual review. I have made it abundantly clear that inflation has risen to untenable levels and that not meeting it is a pay cut to me. Guess who just opened up their desire to work on LinkedIn (recruiters only) and updated their resume??

Bisnow CEO, Will Friend, gives entry level sales reps “tests” and fires them if they fail.

I finally left this toxic place so I can come clean. I worked at Bisnow as a sales rep for several months. The CEO would pretty much act like he was imitating the wolf of wall street at all times. He told a new hire to “get the fuck out” of a meeting because he didn’t finish a book we were told to read after work hours, and he even secretly recorded and live streamed a sales call to “train” us without telling the potential client. The worst part was that after a few weeks of working, he suddenly announced that he would be conducting mock sales pitches with new sales reps and firing them if the pitch was not up to his standard. We were never given a chance to practice, and our only “training” consisted of a few powerpoint presentations and that one sales pitch we sat in…
