I live in Australia and was looking for work as an entry accountant. I saw an advertisement on Facebook for a business that said -9am to 5pm work-hours -10 years experience in bank reconciliation, accounts payable, processing invoices, knowledge in taxation for GST (tax of goods) and payroll tax. -Must know how to use MYOB, Xero. -Advanced experience in excel -Must have a CPA …. -$20 an hour (minimum wage in Australia). It’s funny how many job advertisers seem to not know the value of service. There’s also a higher chance of fraud in the workplace for under paying employees.

Online training while on PTO
As the tile says I'm on PTO, right now needed a mental break from my shit job. I'm decently friends with my supervisor but he just called me from the work Manager On Duty phone stating that our Manager of Operations sent out an email yesterday stating that we need do some sort of online training that is due today and if I had seen the email. “We had sent out an email earlier this week stating that this needed to be done did you see that?” “No I turned my email notifications off cause im on PTO” “Well I need you to turn them back on and get that done.” “Okay” “Okay enjoy the rest of your day off” *click* I've been off since Sunday and they rarely ever give us the time or space to do the trainings that are required of us. My next day in is…
Paycheck Changes
[ Background: I work in a kitchen at 13/hr. Recently, they’ve been on a tirade about getting people off the clock. One of my coworkers refused to get off since they were only at 28 hours this week, and refused to leave before their scheduled time which was two hours away. They got written up for insubordination. Almost no one is reaching full time hours, and as soon as night shift gets in, all the morning crew is off the clock regardless of how busy it is or how much work we’ve still got to do. ] I noticed since the beginning of the year our paychecks changed from being “Hourly Regular” to “Tipped Regular”. I’m curious if this how they’re getting around us not getting full time hours anymore, and how this is going to affect my taxes at the end of the year. I looked at the DoL…
Happy Employee Appreciation Day!
I’m curious to see how everyone’s employers celebrated them today? My CEO sent thank you emails to everyone saying that he appreciates us every day, not just today! Meanwhile in our all employee meeting we covered mental health, not getting cost of living increases because inflation isn’t going to last, and cutting costs due to inflation.
Going to have to refuse…
I just had an interview for an in-house mechanic position with a landscaping company and it did not go very well. Keep this in mind, I've been going to school for this kind of work for the past year. 1) Didn't shake my hand and just told me to sit down. 2) Kept referring that I was “quite young” and didn't want to spend a lot of time teaching me the trade 3) Said my ask for $17/hr was quite high for “a beginner” 4) Was mostly dismissive of the fact I've been actively learning a trade for the job that they posted and kept doubting my ability and knowledge If I get a call from them, I'll have to refuse
