Boss Screamed at Me
This scenario literally just played out at my job: Boss: How long will it take to do X? Me: 3 weeks is reasonable, 2 weeks is potentially doable, and 1 week is a real stretch – that’s my best estimate. Boss: Ok let’s shoot for a week. Me: Ok but it’s unlikely to be finished. —— 1 Week Later Boss: Is X done? Me: Not yet, like I was saying that was pretty ambitious. Boss: Can you get it done in 3 days? Me: I have Y hours between now and then. Again, I can see what I can do but it seriously may take longer. Boss 2: YOU GUYS NEED TO START TAKING DEADLINES SERIOUSLY! Me: Listen. I work Z hours / day, and I do my best within that period. My time is not a free variable, change your scope. —— > At this point I spent a…
Looks like Gizmodo US is now reposting some translated content from @GizmodoES, a long-maltreated G/O subsidiary whose editorial staff have no say in the matter. So I’d been working at a hotel full time for a while and I kept staying late because they’ve asked me. I’ve been asking if I could get my overtime pay since January. I tried to file a wage claim and report them but I think I need a lawyer. What do I do? They’re treating me to badly and won’t respond to me. I want my money. Help Im in texas if that helps EDIT: Just found out my employer didn’t even log in my fucking over time! Just put it as my regular shift! So it’s like I don’t have “proof” now.
My current employer has a policy stating that if you quit without giving a 2 week notice they will knock your last check down to minimum wage. Is this a legal policy? Also I did sign a paper agreeing to this, because I never planned to stay long just making some cash for now, but now that I'm planning on quitting soon I was curious if I could turn this around on them?
