After correcting me on a minor error I told him “yeah man, thanks for letting me know.” Only to be told “you handle your emotions well for a female.” I told him how that was inappropriate but he looked right at me and said “yeah, and what the fuck you gonna do about it?” I've worked here for 4 years. This was our first real one on one interaction.
I find it ironic that conservatives think people should be majoring in STEM instead of gender studies when everyone is already fucking studying STEM. Do conservatives not realize that CS is overcrowded and engineering is oversaturated? I have seen a ton of people complain at my school that half of the students in CS don't belong there because they are just there for the money. We do not need people building our stuff when they just want to get paid in the end. What kind of fucked up world do we live in where people can't pursue their actual passions? It is also why I get pissed when people are telling young adults that they should crush their dreams and passions just to go into the trades because it “pays well”. What a dystopian shithole we live in.

WFH but it’s actually not!
Why so many companies are advertising their jobs as remote but when you read the description they actually are hybrid and require you to be in the office 2/3 times per week? Recruiters, I'm not gonna relocate in London or Chester or Harrogate for an ongoing/temporary position! Understand that!
I’ve recently taken on running the social media accounts which is just as or more work than my current job duties. They declined my pay rise, me being added to the premium Canva subscription and my boss doesn’t let me speak in meetings or when I do will interrupt me.. even when speaking about social media which is what I do. Time to look for another job or stay and get the experience for a few months?
I think that there's a lot of misconceptions about trade unions in the workplace so here's my attempt to deal with a few of them. Myth: Trade unions are slippery slope to communism. Fact: Trade unions are illegal in Communist China but legal in capitalist South Korea, Europe and the US. Myth: Trade Unions cause the company to decline and decay. Fact: Many successful companies have trade unions, Tesco, the leading retailer in the UK, is heavily unionized and retains the top position despite competition from Walmart. Other successful companies such as Samsung, Audi and BMW have trade union representation. Myth: Companies like Apple and Starbucks are broke, they can't afford to pay their staff more Fact: These companies are very wealthy and can easily pay their staff more. Myth: If they could pay more, they would. Fact: These companies are set to maximize shareholder wealth,…
Unpayed mandatory meetings
I work at a fast food type restaurant, a few weeks back we had a “team meeting”. my boss had some things to discuss since he had a meeting with all the people above him. I heared from one of my collegues that we would be paid for showing up, and participating wich seemed more than resonable for me since we needed to take a piece out of our day and travel to our workplace, and sit there for upwards of an hour. When I arrived and one of my collegues asked if we would get paid for the hour of being there my manager just said no. There and then I just took it, although looking back I dont find it fair at all. Fast forward a few weeks, some people have left this job due to bad labor circumastances, management ect. New people have arrived and my manager…
