I get it. Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg bad. But there are industries controlling our government that have WAY more impact on the US/World than Tesla, Amazon, and Facebook. If we are actually going to achieve anything substantial we need to be slightly more serious and slightly less meme-ish. Going after the celebrity billionaires is not going to do anything. Just my two cents.

Got my first job at 18, I want to be an engineer so I found a spot at my dad's job in the CNC department. It. Was. Awful. 8 hour long days, no hearing protection, the loudest machines you could imagine working with, and I was there working on them. There was always a mist of faintly burning/chemical scent all around everything, coming from a chemical in the coolant they used. I knew after day 1 I wouldn't be able to keep it up for more than a week or two, so I notified my new boss that I likely wouldn't stay. I was promptly spoken to like a child for not being strong or willful enough to work there, and he told me that the other guys would probably have to work extra while they hired someone else, so I said I would see I ended up working there…
Last year I had applied as a part time dishwasher at a Snooze, which is basically a Dennys that serves booze. The first hour of training revolved around the boss going over rules and regulations, company policy, etc. At one point he began gloating about this program where employees could give part of their paychecks to this collective fund for other employees to request money from in cases of financial emergencies. The boss kept bragging about how these employee contributions helped cover some of the medical costs for a specific employee who was battling cancer at the time. I didn't realize it until later that management expected staff to make donations instead of just giving them benefits. I quit after 2 hours of grueling work, which would've been tolerable if the head dishwasher wasn't micro managing everything I did and rush/insult me the entire shift.
Is this retaliation?
So a coworker went to HR because she had an issue with our boss (basically boss is a micromanager and nitpicks. My coworker became quieter as to not be belittled, boss countered that coworker was no longer participating. Plus other issues) So this coworker went to HR and HR took her to the bosses boss. Bosses boss said that coworker had a negitive attitude and needed to take attitude seminar, got suspended for a short amount of time and written up. Is this retaliation? Suspension was waived because coworker has never had a write up in the decades they worked there. Now my other coworkers are afraid today go to HR because they dont want to be punished. In reference, bosses boss was friends with boss before being hired in, and thats how she got the job. They acctually had to change the title because boss isnt qualified for the…
