Month: March 2022
Just a story about a previous job that I had. This was meant to be a short post but ended up being a long rant sorry So I wasn't technically a supervisor, but I took on supervisory & support duties for many staff members (who only had monthly meetings with their line managers so they were much more comfortable asking me for help for everything every day instead) and was constantly bombarded with help requests the entire day – to the point where I barely took my breaks/ate lunch just because someone always needed me. I'd come in super early and stay super late outside normal hours, just to be able to get the rest of my work done when no-one was around. I was just always working and every body knew it. When I had mandatory training I absolutely had to pay attention to, I'd appear off-line to avoid…
excuse me?????
Soo I’ve decided to do a side gig for a day working for grub hub and I was working in the month of December for Christmas break since I was out of college I was not a fan of it at all because they compensated very little for gas and rarely get any money or tips from delivery’s But I managed to make atleast $100 but it wouldn’t let me cash out cause I needed my bank info. Lately I haven’t been able to do it cause I’ve been busy with school, NOW I’m trying to cash out and it says I have no money at all in my account. They basically pulled all the money out I made from last year and said yeah your not doing getting money anymore.
Solid advice
Can an employer cap hours on a check?
I feel as if some of our hours are getting capped on checks. Later on I’m going to go look and see if this is the case. If this is the case, is this legal? Should I call corporate?
Asking for a raise for my team today
We have a zoom meeting today, and I’m going to start pushing for a raise for my team (and I’m not even asking for myself) We live in an area where rent has gone up 50% in the past year, and even at $20/hr, 40hrs a week, an individual wouldn’t even qualify for a studio apartment (which requires 3x the rent net income). I can’t attract any new employees at that wage, and it won’t be fair to hire new people at a higher rate if my current team isn’t getting a raise too. It’s fucking rough out here. My team is amazing, and I try to make work as anti-work as possible for them. Wish me luck.
I had recently worked a music festival as a security guard and was told my paycheck may take anywhere from 1 week to 4 MONTHS. Quite sure that's illegal to have my paycheck be delayed for that long. However, my paycheck is to include, traveling to the hotel from Boulder, between the hotel and the venue and working 12hrs at the festival and overtime because on the last day, one of the artist didn't end playing till 11pm and we didn't leave till midnight, waiting for guests to leave. How soon should I reach out to the employer for payment? The pay rate is $18hr. Would it be wise to reach out to the company that runs the festival?
Just what the title says. I don’t understand how my time off works and nobody can explain how and when I accrue vacation/sick time. When I look where I’m supposed to look to see how much time I have, it changes almost randomly I feel every few weeks. For example I’m pretty sure I had 96 hours of pto left and I checked this morning and I’m down to 80 and I haven’t submitted the time I took yet and since I work through a temp agency there’s no way they would know I took it until I submit it with my time sheet tomorrow. My sick time, I thought I was supposed to accrue something like 4 hours a period (a day a month) but somehow I have 13 hours. It just doesn’t make any sense. I’ve emailed my boss and I’ve emailed my contact in the temp agency…
