I think a lot of us can learn from this. I know I can! I want to become more aware. I’ll start: Most recently, I applied for one position and when I got to the interview, they told me it was a different position. Apparently this was a “bait and switch.” He then tried to sell me the position. An interviewer (real estate) asked me to use -their- Canva account to make a “fake” Open House flyer with the address they provided. They told me to go on Zillow to get the pictures to utilize in my flyer. LOLOLOLOLOL. I literally got up and walked out. They called me 2x. I blocked their number. An interviewer had his attorney present. LOL. I should’ve walked out at that moment but I was young and naive. His attorney asked me discriminative interview questions— are you married, do you plan on having kids,…

Hello, I just want to get this off my chest. I spend the last 6 years learning and studying to eventually become an Advanced Practice Nurse. No, I never dreamed of becoming a nurse, non of my relatives work in healthcare and I hate most people. I somehow ended up in this situation because I felt like a failure when I thought of giving up and changing careers. However, I paid with my mental health. I hate this job so much. Just a few highlights of what happened in the last 6 months: – being threatened after calling in sick – cancel vacation one day before it would start, because my team leader noticed that there would be too many people on vacation at the same time (called works council for this one and suddenly I got my vacation) – just hanging up the phone whenever I would say no…
I work at a large retail chain. I worked today for the first time after a ~week gap in my schedule. Went to the break room to grab a snack from my locker, found it empty with the combination changed. I confronted management about this, was basically told “oh we just cleaned out the unused lockers”. Apparently when I was hired they marked my locker down as the locker next to mine, so on paper my locker should have been “unoccupied”. It's a somewhat understandable mistake, however management did not give the slightest shit that they threw away $50+ of my snacks, PPE, water bottles, and clothing. No apology, no offer to pay for anything, not even a gift voucher for the store. What if I had had $500 cash in there? Honestly I just feel like like my personal space has been violated, and management's response was less than…
…and I know for a fact that a fourth one has a new job starting in the autumn so will be resigning in May at the latest, a fifth one is interviewing all over the place to get out ASAP, and a sixth one is at least talking to recruiters. So 60% of the company are planning to leave in the next few months. The best part is that the horrible controlling CEO thinks the horrible controlling Managing Director will have an actual breakdown if she hears about the third resignation, so he just… hasn't told her. The third person is leaving in less than two weeks!!! I guess that's what you get when you treat your employees like shit (forcing us to work from the office full time when government guidelines were still to WFH, moving the goalposts for how we earn commission to try to avoid paying us,…
(Northwest, USA) My mother tore something in her elbow that requires surgery that would make her miss ~3 months of work. She works in upper management at a hospital where she's moved up through the ranks over the last 30 years. They offer long term disability, which she had to use about 10 years ago for knee surgery, where she also missed about 2 months of work. She didn't have any issues getting that approved. She was promoted last year and her new boss won't let her have this elbow surgery, essentially saying “if you have surgery don't plan on coming back to work.” The boss said my mother would have to find and hire an interim employee to take over my mother's duties while she's gone, among other requirements and deadlines to meet before the boss will allow her to have the surgery. My mother can generally function fine…
