I work in the animation industry in Canada. I had an offer for a job in another studio, and told HR 3 weeks+ before my leave. Checked my hours bank and realized I had 3 “float days” available, so I booked my last 3 days off. Got them approved by production, but than later HR told me I didn't have the right for it because it was supposed to be used as a rest from the projects, so she couldn't allow me to take them before a job change. I could just agree and go on, but I decided to ask for the Union's help. They sent HR an email explaining that they could not take out approved days off, as was written in the collective agreement. Today I got the news that the Union prevailed, and my days off are MINE! I know it's not that much of a…

nah, I’m good
Previous employer from 10 years ago gets in touch with me and askes me to come back. -“Please! We will give you significant raise!” “BUT I DIDNT LIKE THE JOB TO BEGIN WITH” -“Things have changed, you won't have to do those things you hated anymore!” ” OK AS LONG AS I DONT HAVE TO DO THOSE THINGS I HATED ANYMORE ILL COME BACK” -“Great!” 3 weeks later: “Oh now that you've trained on new position where you don't do those things you hate anymore, I'm sending the girl home early who does the things you hate, so if you would please finish your tasks early and come do those things you hate that would be great!” “IM NOT GOING TO DO THOSE THINGS I HATE, I HAVE TO FINISH MY TASKS AND WHY ARE YOU SENDING PEOPLE HOME?” -“She is tired from doing those things that you hate” “…
Refuse to go back to the office – Unions make this easier! Commercial real estate takes a hit. Commercial real estate is converted to residential apartments. The market is flooded with rental units, bringing down the cost of rent. Rental companies that bought tens of thousands of houses to rent, take a hit. They start selling off their stock. More housing is available to buy, bringing the cost of buying a house down. Workers win! Heartless corps lose! Spread the word.
How thoughtless of us!
So, I have a new boss at work. He was pulling us in the office one by one in order to give us our yearly reviews and how much our raises are going to be. After finding out my raise (only 6% raise) he hands me a piece of paper and it essentially says that I will not discuss my wage with anyone. I asked him what this was and that I have never had to sign one before. He said it was a “new policy” to “discourage” people from talking about wages. I’ve known the guy before he got hired and we are friends outside of work. He whispers “it’s only not legally binding and just BS” then says “it’s just to make people think they are signing a contract when in reality is Bull” I tell him that the company can’t do that. They can’t have people THINKING…
Just tighten your belt.
Being a landlord is antiwork?!
It literally fits the sub’s description (not working) and gives people a way out of the corporate grind, while still generating some sort of honest income. Not talking about mass home rental here. I see a lot of negative sentiments against the rental business here, which puzzles me. Many of us here are working for big bad corporations for a living, and essentially are generating wealth for billionaires/millionaires. But that’s understandable, cuz you gotta do what you gotta do to survive. Apply that same logic, some people grind for yrs to afford a house, then rent it out so they have another income source instead of being slaves to corps—isn’t that the spirit of anti work? Companies sure as hell won’t care about your well-being, gov efforts are severely lacking, so you what’s so bad about making your honest money work harder for you so you have more financial security…
