Wasting a companies money and time

I’m interviewing for an executive job at a very small resort out of state. I’ve been though 6 interviews online. I’ve decided I don’t want the job, but they don’t know that. In two weeks they are flying me out for a cooking trial (chef position). They also had me fill out an online application that ~of course~ asks for info that is on your attached resume… I filled it in half has and will tell them to look at my resume that they’ve had for 3 months.

How do I respectfully quit a job?

Graduated university. Shadowed a doctor in a field I’m interested in pursuing. Quickly brought on full-time. Got licensed as a tech. Job is fun and work environment is beyond great. Problem is I only make $10 an hour. Wasn’t a problem at first, because I was just trying to build experience hours. Since I won’t be entering a medical school until 2023, I am now being asked to pay my private student loans back. Can’t refinance or defer the loans. Need a little over double what I make now just to pay the loans. Not sure how much worse it will be when the government loan payments start. Even though my qualifications are probably worth the raise, I don’t think it is fair to ask this of my boss. My boss and fellow staff have gone above and beyond to help me in so many ways. Only been working for…

scared to lose my job

so i had to call out today cause i threw up last night and i was planning on still going in but my mom didn’t wake me up (i am a heavy sleeper so she usually wakes me up) and had already called out for me. i had to call out a few weeks ago as well cause i was feeling really sick and couldn’t get out of bed. i had enough sick time for the last time i called out but i definitely didn’t have enough today and im scared that i’m gonna get fired cause i’ve called out so many times recently. i also didn’t get a doctors note which they require because i wasn’t going to schedule an urgent care visit just for throwing up once. i i hate this job but i can’t get fired

My weekend time off is my time off.

I remember about 12 years ago I was taknig some kind of career training course that helps people who have disabilities find jobs. One moment that fuled my antiwork moment was when we were working on our resumes. I wrote that I would only be doing Monday to Friday 8 hours a day. One of the staff at the place came over and told me: “No, you should be available to work on weekends as well.” I thought that it was weird that people would be working on weekends because usually that would be time off for most people. My parents never had to work weekends as far as I remember. But that struk me as odd becasue I would rather have that time off so I could do the things that I enjoy doing. I don't personally want to be working on the weekends at all.

Am I crazy to quit my engineering job to pursue a dream?

Hey everyone, I (30m) am currently an engineer (as a contractor) for a large tech company. They have announced their return to office and as it is, I currently have zero desire to go back. The commute, rent price and stress of the job just aren't worth it. My plan is to just put in my 2 weeks notice and follow my passion. I make around 120k and am up for a promotion next week.. During the pandemic I moved away from my high cost of living bay area condo to a sleepy beach town in oregon and bought my house outright. My bills are very low for my wife & I and she also owns her own business. If I followed my passion I would be making next to nothing for at least the first year and maybe longer. Is it wild to do such a shift? I guess…

In Office Work More Important than my Mental Health?

I have worked for a “start up” company for 3 1/2 years in Oregon. I basically got them to where they are now. If it weren't for me they would not be at the level of success they are. They've showed their appreciation with raises and stocks but never direct words. My mental health has been declining lately, my anxiety keeps me from getting up ready to go in the mornings. Usually on work days I feel like I'm at the bottom of a pool with bricks on top of me just holding me down to drown. Being able to work from home 3/5 days a week has really helped me be able to continue to function at my job. Recently they told us we had to come back into the office for 4 days a week (Mon-Thurs) which is something I can't do. My job involves literally sitting at…

I think I took my last retail job for granted

I see posts here and I have to hope they're not the norm. I have to hope that there's some response bias. I used to work for a pharmacy that was part of a regional grocery store (They operate in like 3-4 states and is pretty big). Man did they ever bend over BACKWARDS to meet my school schedule. I've gotten texts from our scheduler (at one branch that was my boss, at another branch I worked at, it was one of my co-workers) saying something like “Tracelyn called in sick, can you cover a 4-9?”. To which I would often say “oh sorry I can't, I'm working on a school assignment due at midnight” or “I'm out of state at this moment” or honestly any given excuse, it was never vetted. Since I knew that being short handed didn't affect the companies bottom line, it only inconvenienced my coworkers,…

update on quitting my job

Been about a week since I sent my letter of resignation. Since then my boss has refused to speak to me, using his wife/assistant as an inbetween. Every day I've had to reach out to her after being left hanging regarding simple matters (where's my money, when can I drop off my equipment, etc) only to be left in read or given short, guilt tripping comments. But I keep bugging them. They gave me an ultimatum; I cab have my check right this second if I decided to keep working. Or I can turn my stuff in and get my pay….whenever they “feel like it”. They've yet to schedule a time so its back to the daily prodding because no one messes with my money.

Got a strike from my boss for calling in 7 hours ahead of my shift

As the title says, I called in at 11am to tell her I couldn't be there for my shift at 6pm because I hadn't slept since my previous shift which ended at 4am the same morning. My boss told me that she wasn't approving this leave, instead I'd be getting a disciplinary action, and hung up on me. Bad enough we work a 9.5 hour shift (that often turns to 10 or even 11 hours depending on the customer traffic), don't get any scheduled 15 minute breaks or lunch breaks, but I also was scheduled for 8 nights in a row and only called in for the LAST one. Was considering putting in my two weeks but this job isn't even worth saving the bridge for, so I'm done.
