Understaffed-overworked phenomena
Something I've observed while working, specifically at a grocery store, is that employers seem to intentionally keep themselves understaffed and its only partly to save money from hiring more people. It's cheaper to pay someone more than it is to hire a new person. So they'll find out who the hard workers are, keep them at the top of the food chain, and then to make up the rest of the bare minimum workforce by hiring useless lazy pieces of shit who they know they'll never have to give raises to. Secondly, the understaffing benefits employers by creating more comradery among the “workplace family” to put more pressure on employees to come to work. Ie: They try to ingrain the message that “it's not your boss you're letting down, it's your coworkers”. To give you a taste if just one of the many amazing effects understaffment has: I work in…

People say work for Fed gov’t
A friend (white, male, and disabled) got this offer from the gov't, he turned them down. – My friend applied, went through the background check, immunizations, etc. – This job offer as far as we presently understand things, violates the ACA, and FAR. Insurance must be offered if full-time, regardless of length. – This offer very likely violates the current Federal Employee's contract. – The announcement stated my friend would be a Federal Employee (not a contractor of any kind), full-time with applicable benefits until the end of September. – HR verbally gave him the job offer a month ago but waited until the last second to give him the written offer. – The speculation is that this offer was crafted this way and delayed so my friend would be forced to say no. – Even the HR Asst at the VA who had nothing to do with the role…

11 Tips To Stop Crying At Work
So I’m sitting here once again, baked, thinking about my job on my day off because WHAT ELSE do I have to… never mind Anyways, I’m at 20.73hr right? And I’m thinking, how much effort am I really putting in. I think, given all my positives and negatives, I’m right around 40% effort. I do a good job as the work is easy for and kinda sorta fun but that’s another story. So doing well is easy. But I also talk a lot of shit to rest of the staff, sit around a lot when I could be doing something else, building my resume or making up business models, or just dicking around because I work by myself most of the time. I can blast my music and eat some things I probably ( different story) And yeah, I’m baked now and will be well… yeah… Anyways What do you…
I’ve been a Sr. Deli clerk for about 3 1/2 years and I’ve been apart of 2 grand opening’s for this store. We are short staffed constantly so I fill in wherever we need help and have to take over being the deli manager when mine goes home. I’m always complimented with how well I do in the department yet every time an assistant position has been available it’s been given to a new hire. Then a couple months ago I decided I wanted to move to Tacoma to be closer to family. After my store manager heard about that he told me they were planning on promoting me but if I wasn’t staying then they weren’t going to. It’s not even a guarantee that I’m going to be moving it’s more that I just really want to. So for them to try and dangle a baby carrot in front…
