Retail do Panels?
Shopping at Wal-Mart I over here a manager on thier headset. One is looking for 2 more managers do to a interview. Queue 30 minutes later a kid is behind me in line on the her phone, she thinks her interview went well. Curious, I turn to her and ask what she applied for. She's 16 she applied for a part time cashier position. 25 hours a week for $11 a hour. Why does that need a panel of 3 managers to conduct a interview?
So I recently started working at a foodservice place in my hometown. They’ve had staff problems in the past and I’m part of a completely new crew they brought in. (Red flags , I know) Due to these changes they’re running pretty fast and loose as far as scheduling goes and we get our schedules for the next week on Saturday/Sunday which leaves very little time to plan for the upcoming week. (Really, imagine working a full weekend only to learn that, surprise, we didn’t tell you, you’re also working Monday-Wednesday) Now that is frustrating enough, but after getting the recent schedule I planned some time to visit my parents (who are out of town) at the end of the week when I saw I wouldn’t be working the weekend. This one entails water and/or moisture getting inside the door and then freezing, preventing the latches to catch when you shut the door, so Ford solution is resealing and adding more insulation to prevent that from happening. But never does Ford tell the technician to even TOUCH the door latch. So he brings it back saying it’s not working. Well, he’s out of his 3 year/36,000 miles bumper-to-bumper warranty. He needs a new latch. This guy dropped his truck off Thursday afternoon and said “I’ll be by Sunday afternoon to pick it up with my spare key” and just leaves. Well, I try to call him later that day, no answer, voicemail is full. I email him and let him know…
Retail jobs rant:
Retail dogs need to stop taking themselves way too seriously I hate when they’re like oh this is a high school job: what high school are is going to be able to work weekdays at your store. I’m tired of these simple jobs acting like there’s no downtime while you work and milk you for every cent of that 15$ an hour. You want me to care about my job? Pay me a livable wage.
