Is it just me or are these questions during interview ridiculous? And we've supposed to pretend that it wasn't about the money. I keep being told not to say I change jobs for money. 4 years ago I started my career making $18,000. I'm now earning in excess of $80,000 by just switching jobs every year. Why WOULDN'T I continue to do this? “Companies don't want to hire employees that quit after a year”. So pay me what I'm worth? I work a job where it's the norm for employers to rent an apartment for me, so I do not have any ties to any particular city that I live in. Allowing me to pretty easily shop around for jobs that cover the entire country. So every year at the end of my contract I just shoot my CV out there and start interviewing for positions. Doesn't matter for me…

They're out of touch. Even in traditional societies with elders, the elders were just middle age. Old age is “retired elder.” And old people have traditionally, when they say dumb things out of touch with the times, been called “old fools.” So is it time to judge the elderly as old fools and disregard them, and make this a widespread thing, when they speak of that of which they do not know?

I’ve been working as a host at a famous restaurant in NYC for 2 months. The floor manager who hired me had been taking to-go orders and keeping the tips from them. He’s no longer with the restaurant, and one of the bartenders worked as assistant manager for 4 weeks until the restaurant hired a new floor manager. The assistant manager also took to-go orders and kept the tips during that time. (He still works here as a bartender.) I learned last week that hosts are supposed to take to-go orders and get to keep any tips from them. (The hostess who worked here before I was hired did this as part of her job.) I raised my concerns with the general manager about the assistant manager/bartender and he dismissed them, saying that there were no wrongdoings because to-go tips aren’t part of the tip pool. In an effort to continually improve my work life balance: I currently make $16hr at 38-40hr/wk. things have gotten a little tight the last few months due to inflation so I really need that extra money and I can’t physically take on anymore hours. I’m going to ask for $19 to hopefully get $18. But I think I’m worth $22 at least. I do 10-11 hours every day, on my feet, beating my body. I need better compensation for the amount of pain I’m in all the time.

What i mean is most fields are passion driven meaning you have to be really passionate about that field if you want to succeed in it which is fine but what about people like me have literally no passion for any job whatsoever?

I’ve been cooking at a family run restaurant for about 2 months and it’s just me and the chef who cook, the owner will cook when it gets busy but only the 2 of us are employed as cooks. I like everyone except the owners wife who is always making rude comments towards both us cooks. The owner is a really nice guy and is going on vacation in two weeks to see family, which is about the same time another restaurant wants me to start. The new place is one of the best restaurants in town and pays an extra 3$ an hour to start and said we’ll discuss a raise after 3 months. I tried quitting today saying I’ll give him 2 weeks to find another cook but he said he’ll have to cancel his vacation if he can’t find someone else because there’s only 1 other cook.…
