Hello, I worked at this company for 7 months. I recently decided to quit. After quitting, they’re forcing me to pay back a bonus of $800. I signed a contract agreement awhile back not knowing I would be in this situation. Is this legal or enforceable? For reference I’m in Washington state. Agreement states.. 1. I__that I will be receiving a $200 bonus starting after my 90 days of my employment for 6 months. The bonus money needs to be repaid if I leave the job BEFORE 6 months, the start of bonus month. Once I am employed at “x” for 6 consecutive months, there is no penalty or need to repay the money I receive in bonuses. 2. I agree to give at least 6 weeks of notice before leaving my jobs as a “x” at “x”. If I Leave the job in less than 6 weeks of my…

No, Amazon, no.
I saw a comment in another thread about turning a blind eye to shoplifters. I thought it might make for an interesting topic. I work for a large national store and occasionally see customers shoplifting. In the early days I thought it was wrong and would mention it to a department manager but they’re attitude was “unless there,s someone from loss prevention in the store we can’t do anything about it.” So I’d just ignore it. These days I’ve become more aware of how difficult it is for some people to get by, so my attitude is less to do with “why bother” and more to do with “if you need it and can’t pay, then take it. I’m not about to make things worse for you.” When people obviously cant afford something they clearly need, I’ll help them out by opening the box and then put a “discounted” sticker…
If you have a 401K, vote your proxies!
Yes, I know that a lot of people don't have stock. But if you are lucky enough to like Gen-X me, then you might be surprised by what companies you hold, especially if you have mutual or index funds. A lot of shareholder meetings are in May so you should go to whatever site hosts your funds (Fidelity, etc) and see if there are currently open proxy votes (usually via your message/mail link in the website). I'm normally guilty of ignoring these but I realized that I owe it to myself and those who don't own stock to vote down executive compensation packages and the like. Every share that isn't voted by its owner is instead is voted by the board, resulting in the status quo becoming more entrenched. Also, you may find some surprising things on the ballots. Archer Daniels Midlands has a proposal “Regarding Issuance of a Report…

This was said a lot to us during COVID. However, my coworker, who was laid off in March 2020, well her unemployment was more than what we made, then she got a job making more than what she made previously. My other coworker, who did not get laid off, would regularly repeat “we're so lucky to have a job.” She has a PhD from Yale! However, I read somewhere that if you think about it, your company should also feel lucky to have YOU (provided you are a decent worker and good at your job). When interviewing, it shouldn't be solely prove you want to work for us, but also prove why I should want to work for you. While yes, you should be grateful to be able to support yourself, in the sense you're also grateful not have serious health concerns, this doesn't mean your job can just abuse…
I don’t know how many people have realized this but I’d be willing to be over 50% of the posts on here are fake. ESPECIALLY the ones that are just signs, those are so easy to fake. I’m not saying some posts aren’t real, but honestly at this point it’s painful to go through this subreddit and see what it’s become as it’s just a creative writing subreddit at this point.
