Amazon corporate opinions
So this might be kind of a longer post. I was thinking a lot about corporate indoctrination. How we all have to pretend to buy into this bullshit that we are really enthused about what our companies are doing to people. I was at the dog park today and I ran into someone who I could tell was very high up on the Amazon chain based upon the expensive designer dog that she was trotting around. She has always been very nice and as conversations at the dog park usually go, pleasant and easy to about dogs and the weather. She had mentioned she worked for Amazon so I thought I would take the opportunity to ask her what she thought of the unionization victory in Staten Island. It was amazing to me how her entire demeanor changed and what was once a personable pleasant person became a very detached…
Do bosses have performance benchmarks that say Work From Home workers produce less than office workers? Or is it mainly their gut feeling that workers do more in the office?
Do companies not do research? Why would anyone want to stand out in TX heat at Six Flags for $12.50/hr when McDonald's is paying $15/hr? Why would anyone bother getting certified as a fork lift driver right now for $13/hr when so many other jobs are paying $18/hr+?
HR not verifying employment
Sorry for wall-o-text on mobile. I suspect that HR for the company I work for is not verifying employment. I work in IT. All offices in the building have voip phones. Also, all employees are given cell phones. About 4 years ago HR tried to return their voip desk phones to me saying “we don’t need them. They relented and I had to plug them back in (smart enough to unplug but not smart enough to plug them back in). Now their desk phones sit on do not disturb and voicemail box not set up. Before that they would just send the call back to the receptionist who doesn’t have the authority to verify employment. I have lost…
Should I get another job (AGAIN)?
Hello there, I've been jumping from one workplace to another in the last 3 years. First, worked at a software company for 2,800$ a month for about 1.5 years, I was suffering there as I was doing absolutely nothing. there were days when I'd come to work and browse the internet all day long. I quit this job and found another one – in tech support. Same salary, 2,800$. The company and people were quite nice. Worked there for about 3 months until got a phone call from a recruiter who offered to interview for another company, same role but double the salary, about 5,800$. I've been working at that company for almost a year now, they've been treating me very well, vacation days with an early notice, people are super nice, and lots of benefits. Butt, I keep getting those messages from recruiters who keep offering me much higher…
