Going full rant mode here. I've worked retail before, and have had enough experience to know what to expect. I worked at a recreational cannabis shop, and for the first bit it was fine. And then came the standard retail discourse of dealing with the public, including the most entitled and ill-tempered people that ever existed, a full scale global pandemic that has no signs of stopping anytime soon, as well as the high profile security risks and the fickle whims of our own policy makers. Work was challenging but it never got me too stressed until last year around July. Our last manager quit and we for the longest time had our Area Manager doing our schedules, and it was done in the most incompetent way possible. Most people, including me were scheduled to work up to 12 days in a row with maybe 1 day off in between.…
Just Say No….
Today I came into work on my day off, cool extra money but an hour before I was suppose to leave I was told that the person coming in to the next shift was going to be 3-6 hour late. I hate that for 3 weeks in a row now I have been stuck pulling 12 hour shifts BY MYSELF. I have to remind myself that its ok to say NO to mandatory overtime and its the supervisors problem to fill a shift not mine. I hope everyone on this sub is having a great Saturday 🙂 EDIT: As a daily lurking on this sub and an occasional poster, antiwork has made me realize that I shouldn't slave for a job that doesn't care about me.
