For months, I worked 3 different roles due to people leaving for better jobs or getting fired. I worked on my days off, holidays, and after I got off of work. I was told no one was getting a raise due to company performance a year before (2021). They then promised a raise in 2022. I found out certain people did get raises in 2021 however. I was livid. I thought they would certainly give me the raise I deserve. Come review time I was told I was borderline in performance or scored 2/4. I would not be getting the raise everyone else was getting. I was dumbfounded. Due to a shift in how the company was being run, our department directly affected the bottom line of the company. Our performance enabled the company to have record profits. I was working my ass off on days I was supposed to…
Month: April 2022
I started working at a bakery about a month ago, and after about two weeks they asked if I was comfortable being a shift lead. Of course I said yes, as I know in capable of performing the job and it comes with a $1 raise. I got my paycheck yesterday and it didn't reflect my new rate, so I brought it up to my manager. He said that he would approve a raise when he thought I was able to do the job without supervision, which he didn't think I was ready for. I'm baffled. There was no discussion of a training or probationary period, he simply asked if I wanted the job and I said yes. I've been acting as shift lead off and on all week without getting paid for the responsibilities I've taken on. I'm furious. I sent him a message after our conversation saying I…
I spent 4 years in college working my ass off and becoming an expert in data and computer systems and began working at a Fortune 500 company. After a couple years, I got this crappy manager who told me that he needs me to operate on a much higher level before he can even consider promoting me to a senior level. I was already working well outside my working hours and working on side projects I didn't have to do. He had no appreciation for me, and didn't believe in me. The bullshitters on LinkedIn would tell you “prove them wrong! You have to show them how wrong they are about you and how you can rise to the challenge!” Nah. Instead, I started looking at senior analyst positions at other companies and found myself a promotion. Got hired with a 65% pay raise had another company with way more…
This is the right spirit.
I run a small social media agency that focuses on nonprofit organizations. I want to build my company into thriving business. My hope is to create a company where people are fulfilled in what they do. Build a culture where they are heard, valued, and compensated fairly with free health benefits for the ENTIRE family, 401K, paid parental leave, etc. I realize this is not everything that makes a great company. What is your ideal company? What would it take for you to be fulfilled in what you do? Help me build the company of the future!
Does this belong here?!

I work for an International company with over 250000 employees. I work from home for a major American Auto line in the safety services corporate offices. I began FMLA leave on 2-4-22 and was scheduled to return on mar 23. I raised the roof and my access was granted. I became ill once again and had to extend my leave until April 4. On Mar 28 I once again to clean up email and such. GUESS WHAT??? MY EMPLOYEE ID had once again been deleted.AGAIN. Last Thur someone was able to make me a new ID. And I was told smooth sailing. I went to log…

Life without work
My husband and I will soon be in a position where neither of us will have to work, which has led me to wonder: what does life without a job even look like? It’s like trying to think of a color that doesn’t exist. Never was I told as a kid that I could do anything other than be someone’s employee. What are y’all’s opinions?
