Is This a Left-Wing Subreddit Only?

I don't know what the polls here are on what everyone believes, but I am someone who is not a Marxist, or a Communist. From what basic reading I've done, I believe Marx did have some legitimate criticisms of capitalism, and I find modern work culture completely distasteful–I am also grateful that we have a vent here to discuss the things we hate about capitalist culture, but I feel like this subreddit ought to recognise that there are many people of many different stripes and experiences who are finding themselves spat on and chewed out by the system and you do not need to be a Sociology major to have a qualified opinion. I am not pointing out fingers at anyone in particular, but I feel like this subreddit should be more open to people with different points of view. For instance, unionising, making cooperatives aren't the only solutions we…

Boss cut my hours by and hour an a half without telling me.

So he’s done this before. I’ve been working here since the fall and I originally started working 10:30 to 5:30. Than he gradually cut my hours by 15 minutes. About a couple months in it was 5:15 then a few more months 5:00 but I didn’t say anything because it wasn’t that big of a deal to me since I only work part time and I don’t need money too badly right now but I always said if it goes below 5:00 pm I’m saying something because I really didn’t like the fact he didn’t tell me. Well fast forward to now he cut it to the point I get off at 4! He cut a whole fuckin hour at once and an hour an a half total from when I started and yep, he didn’t tell me. So I instantly texted him and he said “it’s very slow, full…

Still have not been paid by my last job. Please help.

Sort of an update / more in depth explanation to this: https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/tymtbg/i_worked_at_a_taco_bell_for_a_week_or_two_before/ I accepted a job at Taco Bell in March in Louisiana because I was starting to doubt that I would hear back from the job I really wanted that I'd interviewed for in February (turns out their hiring process just takes a while). I worked a total of four days, 3/8, 3/10, 3/12, and 3/13 for a total of 20 hours at the rate of $10.50 an hour. During my onboarding, I set up direct deposit. I have dyslexia, so any time I set up a direct deposit for a job, or something similarly important, I *always* triple check what I typed and ensure everything matches up exactly. Taco Bell onboarding was no different. I know for a solid fact that I set my onboarding up correctly. On the morning of 3/15 I called the manager…

living wage question

i recently learned that urban outfitters pays about $10 an hour to their employees. other retailers probably do this too, urban is just an example. the mit living wage where i live is $15. this does not seem fair. i am not an employee, thankfully i do not need to work right now, but i feel bad about retail workers being paid so low. what can people like me who aren't currently working do to help retail workers get paid more? would it help if stopped buying urban outfitters? how do we pressure fashion/retail companies to pay their store associates more?

Do I quit?

Im in a tough spot right now. Trans woman, 17, I move out with my partner, M 17 in about 4 months so we can both escape pretty abusive situations and that's when he can put his name on a lease. I need the money, but this new job just fuckin sucks. I've worked at a local Burger King for a whole 2 weeks, they pay me well and already want to make me manager, but then turn arround and make me feel guilty or just outright blame me when: •Customers change orders •Soda machine goes down •Something I was never trained on didn't get done •A customer has a complaint, even if im not involved And today when I woke up sick to the point I couldn't stand up without feeling like I was gonna vomit, somehow that's MY fault like they aren't the ones who pulled down the…

Culver’s

I worked at a Culver’s for about 3 months when I was 17 and let me tell you about my horrid stories. First thing that I noticed was how chaotic the situation was. There were at least 25 people working, 1/5 of them not doing anything at all. Some training the new employees, some actually doing their job. The place is absolutely filthy, with there even being oil that had gotten clumped up in every crevasse like the place never gets cleaned. The managers were creepy, and I can only recall one manager who was a genuine, good guy who helped me the entire time I worked there, but he was the lowest on the chain-of-command so my biggest issues never got solved. Though, for the other managers, flirting with teenage girls as 30-40 year old men was completely fine, going out of their way to sexualize them. The managers…
