My father barely made a HS diploma – earned a decent amount of money and retired at age 58!!! Yet he claims how much harder he had it than Millenials and bla bla bla Meanwhile I have a HS diploma and two degrees – yet I will never be able to afford a house or a family and I can count myself lucky if I can retire when Im going to be 68…. What is wrong with this generation???

My company says they've tried to let people work a 60% in-office 40% WFH hybrid model and that people were not following this schedule and that on any given day, only 40-50% of people have been in the office. So they're saying that the hybrid model isn't working and that everyone has to be back in the office 100% by May 1st. All vacations days have to be requested and approved 4 weeks prior. All personal days have to be requested and approved 1 week prior. All sick days have to be requested the night before. The 68 year old CEO is saying that he never thought WFH was going to work because he's never been able to collaborate and have effective discussions over Zoom. 60%+ of my company are people under the age of 30. I don't think many of them have a problem interacting online…
That's what the notices with minion memes posted around your workplace are really about. They don't want workers to know each other or, god forbid, even like one another. If you do, you might get the bright idea that one day, you're collectively sick of your employer's bullshit and decide to do something about it. So, aggressively organize. Don't be afraid to get to know your co-workers and make friends up, down, and across your workplace's hierarchy if possible. The goal is to reach as many people as quickly as possibl;e so your employer can't do anything about it and maybe reconsiders thinking minion memes were ever funny or clever.
“Don’t socialize, this isn’t a daycare!” Socialization is encouraged for the development of children. “Don’t slack when you’re sick, this isn’t a daycare!” State laws typically mandate we send sick children home and not let them back until they are 24 hours symptom free. Also what are daycare children slacking on? Circle time? There’s probably more, but I’ve seen three of these posts in the last 12 hours? Like for real management, if you’re gonna insult us at least use a smidgeon of the intelligence you got from graduating from daycare. Keep fighting peeps. Y’all deserve better than being compared to literal babies for basic rights and base, instinctual human interaction. With love, A Daycare Worker
Been given a job offer today for a great company who offer flexible working, loads of employee benefits (including sick pay) and everyone I spoke to during the interview process said it's one of the best places they have ever worked. Tomorrow morning I get to hand in my notice at my current shitty job that offers no benefits, no sick pay and who do not value me at all. I know this sub is anti-work but I just wanted to share my good news!
