Don’t fall on you job
I quit a job on the spot this weekend. I worked at a nursing home at the front desk. There were signs. During my interview, they made fun of the fact that I was resigning from my position church (they called religious people toxic), they told me the hours would be “up to 20” but they weren't even close. During orientation, I was told to just sign the new hire paperwork and don't worry about the fine print, and so on. Three weeks into the job, I had a visitor regularly come to the desk. He would start screaming profanities directly at me when I wouldn't leave my desk to place him in a wheelchair and wheel him up to see his wife. I was never allowed to touch a visitor, am not a medically certified person, and this violated company policy. He told me “fuck you” and became belligerent…

SOS “merit” discussion
So I actually enjoy my current workplace, team, and job, aside from the fact that I was furloughed in December and then brought back at a measly 20/hr week. That doesn’t pay bills. So anyways, point of the story is after my shift yesterday my top supervisor tried calling me but I turn off all my equipment after work and missed it. When I log in this morning I see a message from her saying to give her a call when I have a chance so we can review my merit. I’ve responded asking when today is a good time to connect and made sure to outline what time my end of day is. I’m freaking out. I may have stepped away from my desk for a bit longer than usual/acceptable yesterday due to some personal things. On the other hand, I’m reaching my one year mark and maybe this…
The scene where Kevin Spacey quits is great but the one where the kid does is even better. Sometimes it makes my day better just watching those. https://youtu.be/iutTdLC4xTU
Management
I am so baffled at how managers don’t understand how certain things just don’t make sense or doesn’t even flow to make things easier for consumers and the employees. My question is, what are some thing you wish your manager(s) did or would do to make thing easier at your job?
One of the best moments of my life.
This happened around 6 months to a year ago now. I moved back to my parents after being in a terrible relationship. I was looking for part time work because I was still a full time college student in my final year. I got offered a job at a small coffee shop that had a cool aesthetic, amazing food and generally a good vibe (from the outside). On my first day I was chastised for not having my own set of keys to lock up as (they hadn’t told me this beforehand) I would be left on my own from 2pm-5pm and left to all of the night time cleaning, something I hadn’t yet been trained to do as it was my first day. I came in the next day and was ridiculed by my boss for not doing the cleaning correctly and when I asked if they could make…
