At nearly 60 years old with 30 years of experience, I may be fired for writing 2 students up for vaping in my room. A parent decided I was lying and due to administration not reacting, she has escalated to district and suddenly everyone has jumped sides. You wanna know why teachers quit? You fucking fire them. The company I work for is doing this and a co-worker went to see an attorney a few months before he turned 65 and the attorney told him the company has a lot of money and he doesn't, so there is basically nothing he can do.
Sure sign me right up!
Obligatory long time lurker, first time poster (had to create an account to show you all how ridiculous this is, couldn't keep all the laughs to myself π )!!! Mods, please let me know if this is allowed, if not I can take it down- thank you! π β Background: I've been applying to jobs, and have had a few interviews along the way. Nothing has come to fruition quite yet, but I received this in my inbox. Usually, when people send me a pre-interview package, I quickly look to see what they want, and then send it straight to trash. Why waste my time filling all this stuff out- isn't that why you have my resume to begin with? But this right here takes the cake! This company had sent me a full out booklet to complete before they even consider me for the interview what they call a…
Ok so this is a long story and (for obvious reasons) a throwaway account: I (28M) have been working for a construction company for the last 5 years as a project engineer / project manager – basically running everything about a job, from the bidding process, permitting, submittals, meetings, reports, billings, etc… start to finish. I live in one of the most expensive places in the US, where the equivalent job in a state like Texas, pays about $30,000 less. I currently make $100,000/year – which on paper sounds good, but for where I live, is definitely pretty middle-of-the-road… Next month I will be getting a $10,000 raise, which is great, so what's the issue? It has been almost 2 years since my last pay increase and come to find out, I was going to have to wait almost another year and a half for it if it weren't for…
I managed to get a job making $16 an hour here in the States a few months ago, prior to that I was making $9. I have a State-regulated certification in medical-data entry that took several years to earn to make that wage at both of those jobs. Living with my parents over the last 4 years I have been able to save up what is now almost my entire annual wages (after taxes) in order to put towards a mortgage, most of that was while making $9 an hour, and now I have a “good” job to pay it. β I still can't afford a house. β I don't even live anywhere fancy, its an old mining town where the largest attraction is the shopping mall. Decent move-in-ready homes start at minimum of $100,000 or more likely $120,000 and have annual tax of $1,500 – $2,000. Most homes in…
