Bare with me this is long. So a few days ago I was at work watching people in a pit as I do confined space for nuclear power. Basically our job is to make sure the people in the pit have good air measurements and are safe as they work. Now I’m fully alert usually and I wasn’t sleepy. But I felt my co worker tap my shoulder. So I see her and told her how many people were in the current pit. The thing is she told me I was asleep. Im confused because I thought I was awake the entire time. I don’t remember having fell asleep. So she tells me I was in a deep sleep. And was openly annoyed. So I get called in to the office and my boss shows me a picture of me hunched over asleep. I wanted to escape my abusive family and leave. I wanted to move to a new city and start over. I've never been happy in this town. But I can't. I never will. Because of one reason: I can't get a job to move. Since January 2022 (this is when I left my job), I've had over 250 applications and interviews where I'm led on and I get rejected. I am done and my hopes and dreams of getting out of here are gone. Here's to hoping alcohol kills me. Your dreams shouldn't depend on a job

So the place i work for just introduced a new timeclock system and basically instead of a 30 minute break you have to take 2 15 minute breaks or it will take 30 minutes out of your check, they already had a problem with people not clocking out for breaks so all this did was reinforce that For clarification we're basically given an aption to take 2 15 minute paid breaks seperate from eachother or 1 30 minute unpaid break

So I’m here to ask for advice on behalf of my brother: He recently started a minimum wage job at a well-known mobility store (it’s a national chain). He’s been training for a month and he would actually finish training and start making/doing “sales” tomorrow. However, he goes to work today and his manager informs him that he is being transferred to a downtown location (it’s a different city to ours, about 2 hour commute away). He claims it is a transfer within 30 km of our location and my brother agreed to the possibility of such a transfer in the contract (within a 30km radius). What I don’t understand is, why is his manager suddenly targeting him? A co-worker of my brother’s lives very close to the downtown location and told my brother he would love to be transferred to that location, so why is he transferring my brother…

Texas. Partner was told today that they need her at a different time tomorrow. Plans have been made. If they don't work that time to not even bother to show up at all. It's more of a dick move but was wondering if there is a law protecting from that.

Vent post. First world problems. I’m required to get a negative PCR test before I go. I planned this trip and got approval months in advance. This conference came up two weeks ago. I’m so nervous about catching COVID. I am burnt out. I can barely motivate myself to forward an email. I need a break so desperately. Sometimes I picture something work related and imagine myself dead and dangling from a tree. I’m not at all suicidal and I love my life, but, for some reason, imagining my corpse when faced with the thought of work is comforting because at least I don’t have to work anymore. I actually really need this break. My boss says I have to go to this conference, for optics. I don’t even need to be there, except for everyone to see this fat head on this small body.
