Im convinced my manager has something against me. A couple days ago I was written up for “lack of productivity”. I was so confused because I do not stop moving and doing tasks. I work at a big-box retail store and I am always working on displays, completing online orders, helping customers, lugging big boxes around, and answering phone calls. I was hired at a Fortune 500 co bc I had a lot of military experience in supply chain. Did not realize I was hired over my boss’s protest. She had a predetermined internal candidate chosen. Her golden child. Golden children typically jumped 2-3 pay grades in 5 years. Another coworker was hired at the same time as a ‘golden child’. Both of us were unaware. My boss handed me shitty jobs every second of the way. From the military I was used to it and figured that was part of my job. I cleaned them up. I also took my base portfolio and dramatically improved ALL of the metrics. 9 months later I get to my end of year eval and get a substandard rating. If you get a discipline at work then it’s in your record and there’s usually a short window of time for you to protest. Writing on the discipline is meaningless. I’ve known people who were told, “not to sign it” or “it doesn’t mean what’s written there”even to write “delayed” If I confuse you and you miss the ten day window to file you don’t get to appeal grieve or protest. Whatever your job situation. There’s always a deadline. Be wary of folks that offer shortcuts. It’s all to run down the clock. I’ve seen it from employers and incompetent union reps. In work corrective action or discipline situation, have someone lined up to come with you if there’s a possibility of discipline .
