Title. I live with my parents and I'm 17 years old, and I've skipped grades and done dual enrollment and am in my 3rd year of college. I'm working at Walgreens to pay for the bi-monthly tuition bills, and I've told them I can literally be there every day of the week at any time at their beck and call and I do everything asked of me well. Management has no problem with me, I often get feedback from my customers and my coworkers alike that I have a strong work ethic and am very pleasant to be around. I have reliable transportation. I'm never late and I always stay an extra few minutes if the store is busy and needs help. I have a full time work permit by the state and legally am allowed to work as many hours as I can get. I'm consistently getting 15…
What did y’all do as an exit strategy when you left teaching? I feel like I’ve been in education for so long, I don’t know where to begin. I want to find a career path where I’m working half the hours I have been lately.
Worst POS boss I’ve ever had.
I work in a pathology lab with the best co workers I’ve ever had…except for my boss. About a month ago we hired a new pathologist but he’s only allowed to work with certain insurances (he’s lazy). Since our other pathologist are able to work with all insurances…when we got samples in from hospitals, we just shredded the insurance papers and kept what we needed. Our boss failed to inform us that we need to keep the papers. No emails, no meetings, nothing. She came up to me as I was processing samples and asked why I was throwing away insurance. I was like ?? because we dont need them? She argues with me and THEN tells me we needed to keep. So I’m stuck going through to “to be shredded” trash and finding all the papers and having to put them in order by date, alphabetical order, time, and…
Manager at work pushed me to work 84 hours per week at work, 12 hour shifts with no breaks. I politely told him no, I can only work 65-72 hours per week maximum. He went as far as calling me names, blocking me and putting me down. Co worker also does the same. He asked me to be his referee for a University application. The application form clearly states that I need to know him for 2 years but I’ve only known him for 2 weeks. He expected me to lie for him. When I politely told him no, he became very passive aggressive, hostile at work, and ignoring/blocking me. Same co worker expected me to complete all tasks within 5 minutes which is too big of an ask compared to current industry standards. He blamed the situation on me, and when I stood up for myself, he again became…
Rich living Richer
I took a day cruise in Fort Lauderdale today. It was a cruise of the millionaire homes in the area. However as we toured the announcer showed us several homes of billionaires. The founders of Walgreens, pet supermarket, I honestly can't remember all but it was quite a few. The homes were already enough to show how lavish these people live but what REALLY floored me were the yachts. Yachts as high as 20, 50, 80, and 90 million dollars! People are out here working and starving, working and homeless and working and all their money is going to bills and fees while these guys have yachts worth the value of thousands of homes. They are working people to death paying them next to nothing while people are literally homeless a few blocks away. People call this capitalism. But no it's sheer greed and exploitation.
