It’s heart breaking to see so many stories about the terrible leaders and companies that exist in this sub. Real leaders know that without their their people, nothing would get done, so they always try to look out for them and support in any way they can outside of salary and benefits. I have been really blessed in my career with bosses that care about me and seeing this not being normal is so frustrating 🙁 I hope you all are able to leave those terrible bosses and find some that treat others with respect.
Month: April 2022
Because when I've asked them about the reputation of temp agencies, they insist that all employers do the same things they do. Some examples are: Lying about the job, lying about pay, poorly matching someone to an assignment, refusing to place anyone who doesn't take the first job they present to them, believing whatever lies the client tells them about the temp, threatening to blackball people in the city so they can't ever work again. Those are just a few of the things they do.
Advice on getting paid
Hello, I want to start by saying I really like my job and don't want to burn any bridges but… I started a job in October. Due to a family emergency I had to leave at the end of the month. I started my job back up in January. They had switched to direct deposit while i was gone. It took them awhile to get my bank info so i figured they'd cut me a paper check until it got sorted. I finally got my first direct deposit. The person writing the checks said they'd email me a pay stub. About a week or two later i still hadn't received a pay stub so i couldn't figure out which days they were actually paying me for. Last weekend I finally got two pay stubs but the pay period for the first one started two weeks after I came back to…
So anyone else in the retail wage slave business deal with this? At my job despite working as hard as we can, we're struggling. Today management has said that no one can leave until the work is done. And we are only missing our quota by 1, sometimes 2. During the rest of the week we make it no problem. This just sends my anxiety to skyhigh levels, and I react really badly to it. Feel like I'm being held hostage.
How can you tell the difference…
… between those who have truly worked hard but find themselves victims of a failing system… and the lazy underachievers who will find any excuse not to work while feeling the world owes them everything? Between those who love what they do but whose joy is lessened by unfair practices… and those who don’t have a passion for anything and spend time with other opportunistic people as a tool to feel righteous and justified in their conviction life isn’t fair and they deserve more?
Why Amazon paid their employees to quit
I'm not sure if this is still going on, but I remember hearing about how Amazon paid it's warehouse employees up to $5,000 to quit. Having had a similar experience, I've come to realize this tactic was to keep their turnover rate artificially low. I don't know why it just dawned on me now, but I think that's an incredibly underhanded tactic. Anyone else with this experience?
What do you think happened here?
I applied twice to a company for a position I'm well qualified for. Got two rejection emails, no problem right? They posted the job again a few weeks later and multiple times in the past year. Its a big company worldwide ok? Now get this, I applied for two more positions I definitely didn't qualify for with zero experience. One they immediately replied with a email of rejection but the next one they sent interview and assessment for. Why tho? HR, recruitment and somebody is doing some strange stuff. I don't plan on completing my application with them. Does anyone know what happened in these instances? Just curious
Obviously quitting on the spot is not “professional” itself. However, If I want to leave a hostile work environment but still want to maintain some sort of dignity and class what do you suggest?
