They often live off the land, eat wild edibles, or volunteer on eco farms. They don’t live with money.
Month: April 2022
So to begin with I get to work at 3am and see a couple of colleagues crowding around this guy and as I got closer I noticed he was in a very bad state and heard he had falling into a creek. (Was drunk, potentially high, I know the guy that fell, for a good few years ) I don’t know how bad he was but apparently when my colleague found him he was unconscious. My section leader was out and called an ambulance (they had already been waiting two hours according to his mate, who was worrying a lot) and she and two others stayed out there till it came which was like half an hour later, so once that’s over they come back to work and then turns out that the either the manager of the store or the person that is in charge of my department had…
60 hour weeks, mandatory.
I was informed yesterday that starting Monday, we will be changing from 8 hour shifts m-f, to 10 hr shifts Monday-Saturday. It was one thing to do 10hr shifts m-f which happened seasonally, but 6 days a week is brutal.
Boss that won’t let me quit
I recently spoke with my boss on how I feel about the promotion I was given. Before people start saying he’s committing a crime or something, hear me out. He’s a great boss. He won’t let me because he says I don’t give myself enough credit. He thinks I’m giving up too easy. But that’s not the problem. I can do the job no problem, I just hate it and the aggravation it brings. Between angry customers that want their work done yesterday and impatient technicians, and dealing with extended warranties, it’s too much. I hate it. But it seems my boss is convinced that I think I don’t know how to do it and that’s why I want to quit. How do I tell him that I simply hate it???
I view my unemployment as self care. I deserve to feel like a human being with a soul.
Last year, the company I work at didn't give me the annual evaluation (so no raise). I contacted them in January telling them that they skipped me and that inflation and prices are at an all time high, they scheduled it for late March. March came and they offered me a 6% raise, barely covering inflation to which I replied “that's all? seems low”. They tried guilt tripping me since I've been WFH for over 2 years and everything. I have done my homework (unlike in the past where I just said “thanks” to a shitty raise) and knew my market worth. I told them what I needed and what the average income is for my position to which they smugly asked “Yes, but in what city?”, to which I promptly replied “Irrelevant, it says WFH”. They said they'd get back to me in a couple of days after doing…
Their union vote was a win! I can't wait to see the outcome later this week in Bessemer. If anyone is interested in how much of a gigantic bastard Amazon is, I recommend giving “Megacorp” a listen, podcast produced by Jake Hanrahan.
