For context, my job recently went through with a merger, they’re a small local business that’s sold itself to a (small not major) company that manages my jobs’ type of business. We merged back in November. I’ve been out sick often this past few months because I’ve injured my back. I am a receptionist and I sit pretty often and the chairs are garbage and they hurt my back; I’ve tried medication, bought a back rest, limited my driving and nothing works for my back except rest. I have been struggling trying to find the root of problem without x-rays because I cannot afford it even with being on my parents’ insurance. I’ve had to call out a few times because I’ve literally been unable to move or drive. My manager understands this but it was announced this past Tuesday that when you call out sick, it’s considered PTO and…

I got suspended from work
TL;DR this is a rant about getting suspended over something very stupid by a man with memory issues. Mind you I also have not ever received a raise since working there and I work for minium wage thank you for reading and I am sorry about the long rant I am 22 and have worked for a college cafeteria for the last 3 I had gotten suspended from work for not having a set of catering pizzas ready for an event at 12:30. I would normally clock in at 10:25 but the time clock is broken and won't let you clock in until 3 minutes till. I am already clothed for work and ready to clock in when in comes the big boss who likes to micro-manage but doesn't understand what exactly we do out front and just doesn't seem to trust us at all. He attempts to micromanage how…
I’m drowning in work – New job
It's a fixed 40 hours a week job, but the inflow of work is so high that it can't be completed in 40 hours. Unofficially I'm working almost 65 or more hours, sometimes even on the weekends. Colleagues are so much loyal to the company that they advise me to get married to the job and login 2 hours before and after the working hours if I'm not able to keep up with the pace. I'm pretty sure company knows everyone is working more than working hours but they're using 'ownership' as the loophole in the system. Once we get the ownership of a task we've to do it no matter it's logout time or not. This post is just a rant, I know we can't do anything about it, other than maybe changing the job but they're all the same in the end.
My boss has been threatening me with forcing me to work from the office any time there's a dip in my numbers. Yesterday I used paid time off for a few hours before work and when I do that it effects my “in que” time because for it not to, they would have to adjust my schedule for the day, and they just wouldn't do that. On top of that I was having tech issues for a few hours after I clocked In(along with half the rest of the department)The tech issues had nothing to do with being remote. They were server errors and I would have had the same issues in the office. Boss(A) messages me(B) on teams: A) Hey, what happened yesterday? Your out of que time was 48%. This is unacceptable and if it keeps happening you're going to have to start working in the office. B)…
Quit Woodforest 2 weeks in
HOLY !#(*@. Bruh, they offer ok pay and benefits, but jesus it was not close to worth it. 11 hour shifts, hidden policies designed to keep from ever earning bonuses, uncertain out times. It was the last straw when I talked to them about how the uncertain out times(like an hour and a half off of scheduled out) and they said, and I quote “The schedule means nothing, you leave when I SAY you can leave.” and then proceeded to keep me an hour and a half over time again to teach me a lesson. I turned in my keys and walked out on a busy shift the next day. The ironic thing is they had a meeting about employee retention needing to get better that same morning
I went into my shift today and my manager let me know that the area director for our area forgot to tell me (and I believe a few others also didn’t know) that we had a manager meeting at 7:30a the next day (which was supposed to be my only day off for the week) . The location of the meeting is 2+ hours from where I live. My shift today was 2-12a and I got off work around 12:30 and just got home. I was told I have two options, be at the location 2+ hours away at 7:30 in the morning or close the store instead the next day. Not to mention I had already made plans for the day off days before today. I have messages of my area directors response but it’s not Sunday. I don’t want to make the commute on a low amount of…
