So I can't tell if this company is trying to pull a switcheroo on me, I applied for analytics and they sent me a message saying to send an application (again) from their site and they'd send me a Gallup assessment when done, but when I opened the link for the job, it was a warehouse worker. I'm confused why a warehouse worker or an analytics worker would need a personality test and I'm just confused. I know this is antiwork, but I thought I'd ask y'all because I think you would provide a no bullshit answer than a job subreddit so I can get through understanding this.

I’ve been searching on indeed and almost every application has you take test sometimes even recording yourself. I’ve done this dozens of time and I’m tired of being rejected. Am I supposed to just be jobless?? I’m so upset and my self-esteem is taking a hit.

My supervisor let me know that they will be scheduling a 'stay interview' with me in the coming weeks. Has anyone else had one of these? Appears to be something that has come out of the great resignation as a way for employers to understand why an employee is staying with the company, what gives them purpose at the job, etc. I would love to be honest with my boss that I am really only in it for the pay, retirement plan, health insurance, and job security but I feel like that wouldn't go over well.

Can someone explain to me why this is a law in 49 states and has not yet been overturned? (Apart from the obvious “corrupt government” reasons) It seems entirely predatory. Why haven't labor organizations/unions lobbied against this and if they have why have they been so unsuccessful in doing so?

The place was as sketchy as you can imagine. It started off legit, but as the months went on (I was there 7.5), it got sketchier and sketchier. I left for two reasons, I moved back with my parents because my lease was up in my apartment and it was too far to commute, and I was promised a raise and promotion for 4 months and it never came. I got a text from the former owner this morning saying he was unaware I left. It’s been 2 months. I did not personally know him before the job, but I did have a connection to him which is why I got the job in the first place. This is my first time posting so I will do my best to follow the format I've seen thus far. TLDR: see the title of this post 🙂 I work as a server/bartender in a small town that survives on tourism. A month ago I went to work drunk, was sent home, written up, but not terminated. Absolutely 100% I was in the wrong. I was ashamed, apologized profusely and said it wouldn't happen again. A week ago we had a mandatory FOH (front of house) team meeting starting at 9am in which there was a bar demonstration so that all staff would make the cocktails correctly.
