California and Colorado have effective pay transparency laws, which state: “Employers must include the following compensation and benefits information in each posting: The hourly rate or salary compensation (or a range thereof) that the employer in good faith believes it may pay for the particular job, A general description of any bonuses, commission, or other forms of compensation that are being offered for the role, and A general description of the other benefits that are being offered for the role.”Source One of the most common trends, particularly from the personal anecdotes shared here, involves companies doing a “bait and switch” relating to pay. This is unacceptable. If this movement is going to have any teeth, I propose we reach out to our congressmen and woman and push for this change. It's small, it's impactful, and it's not unreasonable.

Title. I have asked others for work to do constantly since there isn't much work needing to be done there, and time after time they would say no because there wasn't enough work, and thought that was weird. But I was planning on leaving anyway for remote work due to health reasons and wanting to get into SQL. It was a very old school business that refused to use better technology for god knows why. It's just the boomer boss who has a technophobia. Need I mention others at the job use their phone a lot and nothing happens? Glad they are sending my checks in the mail because my god I am done with that noise lol. I respect the workers there, just not the shitty management and policy.
Boss Said Something Off.
So for context, I'm halfway through a 2 week notice. I'm the only non-management keyholder, and when I leave, only the SM and AM will have keys. So SM is freaking out about it trying to solve the problem, and she starts doing the approval to get the one part timer here a key, even though he's said he doesn't want it. So today, he sees an email about it and was going to approach her. She came up to him with the whole keyholder spiel, and he said no. So a few minutes later she comes up to me and says, “I need to figure out how to make him work weekends. If he won't take the key I might as well fire him. It's easier to hire with 3 openings than 2 anyways.” I'm floored, gang. I already told him what she said but is there anything I…

I study and also work at a fast food chain, my boss is really volatile and gets angry really easily. My availability is only on the morning so I can study, I have explained this to him, but he always put me on the night because I do a good job and will show up no matter what. How do I ask him to put me in the morning shift in a way that's firm but also won't make him mad. I'm looking for another job and plan to use that as an excuse.
I’m a web developer. Last summer, I was offered a senior promotion that began this year. The first few months were more of a “training” period as i was the first to be in this senior role. My work has always been well received and get praised so it felt good. Basically I was going to work on higher level projects and get a decreased project count, while also managing/training new hires and people who are more junior. Fast forward to now. My project count has been nearly double of the juniors all year. I don’t decide who gets what project and how many, someone else decides that. I’m at the point where my quality is decreasing because my volume is so high. On top of that, I’m being asked “why isn’t so and so following procedures?” Or “why aren’t you spending more time training and helping the juniors?” I’m…
According the to BLS stats (March stats coming soon), we’re still seeing all time high quit rates, but unemployment has slowly/steadily trickled down. My only guess would be shorter times in positions (higher turnover rates). Any idea how this is possible otherwise? Or if it is higher turnover rates/frequency, what are the byproducts of more people having jobs, yet people still quitting en masse more than ever? I live in the south and have always worked in the south, but I’ve never once been able to take a sick day, nor was it ever a practice at any establishment I’ve worked at, and I’ve had more jobs than I can remember as an almost 30 year old. I had people on Reddit telling me I’m basically fabricating this but I’ve NEVER been offered a sick day even once, and my current employer offers 1 personal day after 1 year of employment. I believe Walmart also had something of the sort after long enough, but it’s sort of a dogshit company to work for. I’ve been very ill and every absence counts as a point against me unless someone in my family dies and I get bereavement, so I’m at 2/4.5 until termination. Can’t wait to find a way out of this shithole cycle I’m in.
