Going back

Just a small rant. I used to work in events, I spent 4 years of my life working with a company where the norm is 12h-15h days, where you stand around pointing people in the right direction to the club regardless of the weather. I hated it, and I hate that I have to go back bcs my new job's pay does not cover the basics. The only good thing this events job has going for it is that it is a 0 hrs contract meaning I can pick my shifts when convenient but I thought I had finally been able to move on to better things. God damn it.

Contacting union rep?

If I've been told multiple times on different occasions (different promotions) that I was going to get it, and was approved or whatever, yet they didn't give it to me for no reason, is that something I should contact my union about? I honestly have no idea what a union really does. Also, how would I find out who my union rep is? none of my coworkers know, I'm sure i could ask my DM but I'm pretty sure if i talk to this dude again I'll explode.

And that’s supposed to be a good thing?? “I have no time to form meaningful interpersonal relationships because I’m chasing money”. Hustle culture can fuck right off.

CEO is an important job. Here’s how to get better ones

So when you're looking for a job, a lot of interviewers are like, “you want to know how much this JOB, which is where you exchange LABOUR for MONEY, PAYS? You should be working for PASSION not MONEY!” k dude Let's pay the CEO, and everyone in the executive suite, the same amount as their lowest-paid employee (likely a janitor, secretary, or data entry clerk). Fill the role with two people working part-time so they don't even get benefits. Then we'll only attract candidates who are passionate about the job. We won't have all the problems rich CEOs cause. Problem solved! In a few months when businesses close down crying about how CEO's don't want to work anymore because of government subsidies, well, that Biden sure is a bad president!

Update: fired for asking about the raise associated with my promotion

Two days ago I posted that my manager had said he would approve my raise “when he thought I was ready” to perform my responsibilities without supervision. I was confused because he offered me a title, I accepted, my responsibilities changed, and I hadn't yet seen the raise associated with those changes. I sent him a message explaining that I was “extremely uncomfortable” with his response because it was inconsistent with all the information I'd been given to to that point. Yesterday I went to a company meeting for about an hour. Had my managers needed to say something to me, that would have been a great time. At 10:26PM yesterday, they sent an email which I opened this morning. “Terminated effective immediately.” The reason they gave was “several instances of shop policies and procedures being disregarded,” which is bullshit. I know for a hard fact that I was one…

America’s current wealth gap is wider than that of France in 1789, right before the revolution.
