Update: New hire makes 35k more than I do

Some time ago, I made a post here about how a new hire in my field was making 35k more than me even though we had the same degree and job title. I am happy to announce that I have turned in my notice to my current employer (now ex-employer). I have accepted a new job where I make 50k more. I have better hours, better benefits, and a more prestigious title. My ex-employer begged me to reconsider. Called my personal phone numerous times, sent more than one email. I ignored all of them. You wouldn't give me the time of day or decency to even sit down to talk about my pay and now you want me to listen to you? Play bitch games, win bitch prizes. Edit2: spelling

Going through unexpected and life altering experiences while being mentally disabled is tough…

This post is going to be relatively long, but I’d like to provide as much context as I can. I found out in March that I’m pregnant. My fiancé and I weren’t planning to have kids, at least not this soon, but it ended up being a welcome surprise. The first trimester was rough, I was constantly sick and vomiting. Due to this I requested a short term disability leave from my job as a Customer Service Representative for a pretty prestigious bank. (I don’t qualify for FMLA since that requires 1 year of tenure with the company and I’ve only been with them since September). For those who may not be familiar, short term disability leave requires medical supporting evidence that you’re unable to work. My OB/GYN wasn’t comfortable labeling me as disabled due to the fact that, even though I was very sick, I didn’t require hospitalization. Understandable.…

my mom got a labor attorney, but he wants her to stick it out for awhile. advice?

My mom works a warehouse job for a prominent meal kit company. They own literally every other meal kit company, but pretend not to (you know who I'm talking about). She's been working there for 4 years. After about a year of working there, they asked her to take a manager position for a $1 raise, she declined. They gave her the responsibilities anyway and skipped out on the raise. After awhile, they switched her position. The manager in her new area didn't like her and the fact that she wasn't chipper. He had to reprimand her for a mistake and wrote her up for it a month later, but company policy states that write ups have to occur within 7 days of the incident. HR threw out the write up, only for him to replace it with another one (for a made up incident) the same day. The manager…

Do I have to find coverage for a shift if I have a doctors note saying I can’t come to work?

Basically I got hurt at work the other day, I fell down someone’s stairs on a delivery and sprained my ankle. Got back to work and let management know which they seemed to not care and told me to finish my shift. Yesterday my ankle hurt so bad I could barely stand so I called out of work which they let me know I needed to find coverage for my shift and a doctors note. Like I said tho I could barely walk so I didn’t get to the doctors office until today. (2 days after the accident) Went to the doctors they took X-rays and basically told me they don’t know if it’s fractured from this sprain or from 5 years ago with a previous sprained ankle that never healed correctly so they have to find the old X-ray and see if it’s a new fracture or old one.…
