Now going off assumptions I would guess that a majority of this community is liberal. But just being honest with ourselves, what's everybody's thoughts on this outcome of a administration? Now I'm not here to talk trump vs Biden or any of that nonsense, simply living in todays economy, and the current state of America, does it not feel like this administration is self sabotaging the entire country? People that are aware of the current actions and ruling that this administration is implementing are encouraged to voice opinions/facts. Those that don't keep up with the news and day to day changes please hold your opinions as I don't want this thread to become toxic.

So my job like many became entirely remote over the pandemic, people have since started to return to the office and I've been in once or twice. Now however a promotion for me is in the works but I've basically been told I will not be considered unless I start returning to the office more. My job does not require any in office work, there are occasional site visits for clients that I have no problem with but I just hate the office, hate commuting, and share a vehicle which all makes this difficult. I have told them this multiple times. How the hell do I tell them that I have no intention of returning to the office more that can't be questioned (they suggested getting me a hire car so I could commute which is just a massive no), I don't care about the promotion anymore but they're so…
Holy faaak! Just interviewed this kid for a job . He’s 18 no experience in the working world, and his first question is …”if I don’t start at $30/h, I’m leaving …..Good bye . The job was helping a forklift guy in the yard. Starting at $24/h. No skill needed. I’m floored.— slimschadey (@slimschadey161) May 25, 2022

Throwaway account due to one of my bosses using Reddit and don't want my main account associated with this if he's ever on this subreddit (never know.) I started this job via a hiring agency. Before I got hired, I was told I was going to do a different person's job for 3 months while the person was out for surgery before starting my own. If all went well, I would be out of the hiring agency after 4 months and be put on their payroll. “Cool,” I thought. They liked my job, or so I thought, they liked me, or so I thought, that they wanted to move forward with putting me on the company's payroll (spoiler: that never happened.) Person came back from surgery. One of the bosses decided I was going to be a “floater” on top of doing my own job. Don't know why I agreed…
Is this even allowed?
I don’t even know how to talk about this without getting angry. Today I’m working at my job (Cafe LLC business.)I cleaned the floors, mopped, all the things you’d do before opening the shop. We get a call, and so I answer t. Turns out, it’s my boss saying to stop standing around and get back to work as he’s watching me from his home. This was the first time I’ve heard about this recording going on, and I’m quite pissed that it’s happening. My question being, is that even allowed? It makes me want to quit, but I’m literally the only other employee at the moment, and I don’t like being recorded while doing my work.
Employer: Hi [My Name] yes we will provide you a jacket ,apron and gloves but not shoes and trousers. Thank Can you please confirm that you will attend the trial on Monday 4pm? Thanks Me: Sure, how long will I be working for and will I be paid? Also, any particular trousers you want? I'm very tall and so it might be difficult to find some that work due to my height. Any of you guys got any more advice to avoid being exploited? I've done trial shifts before where I've worked and it feels really exploitative.
How about that
Discuss your salaries!!
I quit my job a few weeks ago to go freelance, but in talking to an ex colleague I used to manage I discovered we had the same salary (salaries were secret and only discussed with my boss). So for the past 12 months while I deflected crap, did all the team management, worked longer hours thank him etc he got the same salary. Massively unfair but I’ve left now so nowt to be done, but heed the warning! Edit for clarity
I'm putting the ox before the cart here but need to savor the moment while I still can. had a couple of great years, huge bonuses then covid, 20% pay cut to save the company but no biggie, unemployment pays that back, ours got hacked, I didn't get paid for months, spent every day on hold with unemployement. end of the year comes, great work people! company saved! bonuses restored!…. but not yours, you weren't as productive this year. oh. kay. not my fault but I guess not theirs either so I let it slide. co worker who has been there for decades does not, hot potato, no bonus, no worky, bye felicia with 5 days notice (highest of fives to that guy) so naturally I get to do his job and my job now. 2 weeks goes by and i've just about got my arms around the nightmare i've…
