Just like the title says……. I served for 8 years in the US Navy honorably as a Machinist Mate. To simplify it I was mechanic who took care of boilers, pumps, and various other auxiliary equipment that maintained any ships functionality that was powered by either a boiler or a nuclear powered reactor. That being said I feel that if you are a Vet; doesn't matter what branch; as long as you are honestly discharged; that you should be able to get Veterans Day as a paid day off without accounting against a vacation or sick day.

Background: I have worked for a small private arborist company for the past 4 years pretty much out of high school. Since the start, I have been told that we are a “seasonal industry” and therefore we don't get paid overtime. We sign a contract when we get hired saying we will work over 44-hour weeks without the additional pay from overtime. This has basically given my boss free reign to make us work 60+ hour weeks doing a very physically demanding job. I wake up at 6:30 to go to work and I'm usually not home until 6:00 or 7. recently he has been trying to make us work Saturdays to “catch up on work” because he can only seem to keep a small number of employees for his company that requires a large income to keep afloat. Last night I had a dream that I stopped paying taxes. I decided “screw it, society isn’t holding up its end of the bargain, so I’m not supporting it anymore” I felt so happy. Now I wake up and realise that’s not realistic. We’re involuntarily owned by an anti-human system that keeps wages low and raises costs indefinitely. The highest tier of luxury I can aspire to in my time on earth is buying strawberries without worrying about the price. Well damn, that sucks, but what can we do to dip out? I don’t drive, I don’t own a home or rent, and I don’t plan on having kids or pets anytime soon. Any other suggestions?

& I asked for a raise and was laughed at! I was promised a raise at 90 days also. I earn $11 an hour as a 27 year old man. What the hell Sooo trying not to make this too long. Pretty much didn’t have a job lined up after leaving my old workplace, so I applied and took the first job I could grab, my new workplace doesn’t pay shit I’m talking $11 an hour. Anyways it’s close to home and I didn’t have a job so I took it right away been here a few months but my God do I feel so out of place.
