This is a terrible idea and a symptom of the right's inability to think clearly or dig deeper than their “gut” reaction. Yes, it is fun to imagine some science teacher blowing away a dirtbag, but this: Ever seen a teacher lose their temper? I have. See that to its conclusion. Where will a teacher store their firearm? It will end up in a drawer or a purse, or on the bathroom sink, and some kid will figure it out and snatch it. There's a reason police officers have big bulky holsters. How much ongoing shoot/don't shoot training will they get? Police Officers generally get this every year, and they still make mistakes. How much weapon retention training will they get? This is a whole area of study with law enforcement, who practice (or should if they don't) how to prevent a suspect from overpowering them and killing them with…

Tl;DR at bottom So I used to work for an undisclosed finance firm – I can talk about this now I do not work there, but obviously going to keep the identifiables to a minimum. So in our system of making payments out of the company, this was done specifically through the course of one day, for payments to leave the building in the morning the next. So if I was given legal documents today, for example, I had to finish them off and send the payment to be authorised before 5pm, in order for the checker to co-sign it, and the money leaves for our legal firm to complete on things like mortgages etc. So very time sensitive. For reference, checking and completing on a single case can take thirty minutes being meticulous, and about twenty if you're being quick (but diligent). I'd been doing this for 18…
A super vague background: I've been working for this company for 2.5 years and only make $15/h. Never had a raise, never asked for one. A while ago one of our guys quit and they hired this new guy and sent him to me for training for a few day. While I'm teaching the guy the ropes I casually ask him how much they started him with and he says “$16/h” I stop for a second then just keep going with the explanations and such. Later in the day when the boss came in I called her out on it, said it was unfair that I've been here for this long without any complains and this guy gets hired overnight and is already making more than me. Now here's the shocker! She starts saying how thankful she is I brought this to her attention 'cause the guy was “Not supposed…
The reality of putting work before life
This feels SO FUCKING GOOD!
Fuck working for the man
Forewarning: this is a rant. I love how all these corporations and companies are complaining about labor shortages, people quitting, etc. yet treat us all like shit! Backstory: two weeks ago my three coworkers and boss quit leaving just me. Now I’m fairly good at my job and pick things up rather quickly and on the fly. So rather than panic I just continued with my day to day activities, no guidance from upper management, directors, nothing. I start receiving phone calls asking me about things way above my pay grade and task that need to be completed etc. So I buckle down figure it out and everything’s all good. Two days ago my regional manner shows up, applauds me with gratitude so on and so forth. I’m thinking “great, maybe I’ll get a pay bump and promotion for my efforts.” WRONG: this prick knew a month ago they were…
