I started at Big Evil Corp in January. I've taken a lot of VTO since I started, because I was in a car accident last April that left me with multiple spinal injuries which had not healed, and this job exacerbated them. In February I had an appointment with my spine doctor and was informed that due to the length of time since the accident and the multiple therapy regimens that had thus far proven unsuccessful, I was eligible for surgery. I would be out for three months to heal. I am receiving short-term disability benefits during my absence, which is allowing my lower back the opportunity to heal as well. I worked there less than 4 months at this point, so not eligible for FMLA, but they approved of my leave and STD benefits. Somehow the system worked for me. I'm also in the process of being hired for…
Month: May 2022
I’ve been around so much b.s. it’s really not worth the time and effort.
It's so stressful. On top of that, our breaks are at set times. I work in an old folks home as a janitor so it's almost impossible for all of us. AND ON TOP OF THAT… I'm forced to take my first 15 45 MINUTES INTO MY SHIFT. And since I'm casual in a temp line, I don't get health care until I've worked here for six months. I'm so close to quitting on the spot. I'm done. I'm burnt out.
Good and bad companys
I looking to determine good companies to work for and buy from and what ones to avoid and not support. Both local and chain businesses, as well as the reason you would consider them good or bad. Any information or a list is greatly appreciated.
Is there a national lawyers group who would offer help for a new workplace trying to unionize? Thank you
How are the employees supposed to speak up without being gaslit or undermined?
Sorry for a messy rant. It’s my second week back into the offices at Google, and I’ve learned three of my team members have tested positive for Covid. They get sent home since they aren’t feeling well and get paid for not working since Google is the one who put them at risk, and this also affects my project in a way that most of us will need to stay late to cover them and get our daily tasks finished. Productivity becomes lower and people on my team are scared, because Google values “face-to-face” collaboration over the safety and well-being of their employees, despite them providing the world with the most dense, politician-like response to the pandemic. “If you’re sick just stay home.” I come into the office to do literally the same shit I do at home, except I have to spend money for gas. This one-size-fits-all RTO approach…
Kind of looking for some outside view and if I’m being irrational. Not my direct boss but my department boss loves me. I’m his new favorite person. I saved the company a couple million dollars so I’m his golden boy. I hate him. He bullies all of my coworkers, constantly talks trash about everyone, takes people into his office and yells at them. He threatens firing people on a constant. His new thing is he has this big plans for the department blah blah blah but people who laugh in the office don’t fit in his department. This all came from Wednesday when a coworker brought it tiny tacos for the office. Everyone came and grabbed some and had some good laughs and enjoyed each other. He came in shortly after and said “are we here to party or to work??” It was 5 minutes, of “wasted time” in a…
