so… i love my job. its in a field i enjoy and would be volunteering in if they weren't paying me to be there -and i could mentally afford to volunteer on top of paying bills jobs. but sometimes i wish i could just close up shop and leave early. i'm the manager so i literally could do that… but i also really really can't do that. some days i'm just sick of it all. i don't need to be there more than 35 hours a week. i probably don't need to be there more than 20. for some stupid reason -not my choice- we are open 7 days a week instead of 5 which means i always have to be interacting with people instead of doing the actual meat of my job. its so frustrating. i wish i could lock myself in the back room for 16 hours straight…

Imagine you see your local pizza chain hiring for minimum wage and everyone starts commenting “won't be buying here anymore due to low staff wages”. Would they start paying more, realising customers find it immoral? Personally I try to avoid places where I know staff are paid badly and make it known.

My friend works for a very large & profitable assurance company in a “temporary role” that she’s been in for over 3 years. It started as a one year contract and they continue to renew her year after year, but refuse to give her a permanent role. Temporary employees don’t get the same benefits or spending accounts as permanent staff & they don’t get paid sick days either. How can a company with so much money justify that? Shameful.

I work at a restaurant in Chandler, Arizona. Recently, the GM and a line cook (poorly) renovated what was the men's bathroom into our lunch/breakroom. They replaced the previously existing break area with shelving full of to-go containers. Until about a week ago, the open hole from where the toilet was remained in the ground, they simply added a counter above it and this is where we are expected to eat. Since, they have covered the hole with a plastic cover from a 5-gallon bucket, however, I have a lot of concerns about sewer gas (idk if those are valid concerns though, pls educate me). Additionally, we now only have one, single bathroom which men and women are supposed to share. Management is also aware that an employee is smoking unknown substances (not nicotine or weed, think burning Pine-Sol smell) in the bathroom and does nothing to remedy the situation,…
