Anyone else get think that we are heading quickly towards a society much like the one in altered carbon? Where there are few ridiculously rich who control everything, and will be completely exempt from any form of laws or repercussions, richer than big countries, and will use so called “law enforcement” to keep us below them forever, and investing absurd sums of money into health research so they can lord over us for longer. I definitely feel this is coming, what do you guys think?

Long time lurker, first time poster. I hesitate for reasons you will soon understand. I work for a giant in the medical research industry. During covid I ended up unemployed, depressed and desperate. I took a job that went against my morals because well… Bills… So I work for this giant and I work with animals but wont discuss the details here for reasons. So I won this award the other day for raising issues regarding animal welfare last year. The animals in question are… Dead… And not a single policy or procedure changed. No one benefitted from my efforts. I didn't do it for me, or for corporate, I did it for them. Now I get patted on the back for having accomplished nothing at all. On the first day of work I had a panic attack lasting the entire 8 hour shift. The company expects us to stay till 5am in the coming future (work starts at 3pm) I believe upon knowing this it made my anxiety worse! I think my record is ruined. I thought I could control my anxiety, but I just couldn’t! I HATE having anxiety! How can I get therapy if first I need a job in order to afford some, but can’t even hold a job long enough to get the therapy! I just need to get this off my chest, sometimes it’s too much I have to let this out! Just todays rant’

As the title suggests. This is my first time posting here, but long story short ever since the whole cost of living started spiralling, I’ve been working nonstop. I make decent money, but overnight I suddenly couldn’t afford to live. Since February I’ve been working 13 days on, 1 day off – across 2 jobs. Yesterday I was talking to my therapist, and she suggested I take a couple of days off, so I messaged my manager and just straight told him that next Thursday/Friday, I’m taking as AL. I have a 10 day holiday coming up in 2 weeks, but I’m not gonna make it until then I just really need this. Bless that man because he approved it on the spot and told me to get some rest, and he’s not going to deduct any days. I now am going to have 4 days off in a row…
