I've been working for this company for 3 months already and they offered me to extend the contract for additional 6 months. They offered “whopping” raise of 60 USD. I've been working my butt off in 3 shifts, only took one day off in the meantime and my health became worse. I have low immune system( leukopenia and no monocytes) and I feel fatigued most of the time. I had one on one meeting with my boss and somehow I felt bad if I said how I actually felt about the job. Working from home is possible but they don't allow it. The working conditions are okay and the job itself is not too difficult, the crazy shifts and the humiliatingly low salary are enough of a reason for anyone to leave, yet I don't have the confidence and courage to stand up for myself. I can't bloody stand it when they do this, I've had my fait share of it and now my partner is too. Where I'm from you have to work your notice otherwise they don't need to pay you your accrued leave and I swear it's a tactic that the manages turn the bullying up a notch to try and force you to leave early and keep your last pay. Screw those selfish people

I left a terrible job in April that was mentally shattering. Bad working conditions, mental abuse, me too issues.. just bad. Went out and got a much better job at the world’s nicest work environment. No one tracks hours, and you are encouraged to exercise during working hours, spend time with your family etc. and they mean it. Want to go for a swim in the middle of the day? Do it. They would rather you work 5 happy productive hours than 8 mediocre. The joke is that everyone works 9-2 everyday and it really isn’t far off from the truth. 6 weeks of vacation, plus flexibility to take off beyond that if you need. I should mention this is in Europe. I vehemently refuse to apply for roles that state “competitive pay”. If I counted the amount of times that competitive pay turned out to be way below market rate I think I could take a month off and cover my bills still! And to rub salt in the wound, there is NO negotiating with these companies… My approach now is to state an expected salary with a percentage margin of negotiation, and I inform them that if they offer outside of this then best not expect a reply. Then you hop on linkedIn and see these same bloody companies and hiring specialist posturing about fair compensation and paying people what they are worth! its like watching a comedy sketch. But yeah competitive pay.. competitive with what ? the price of beans if you bulk buy ? rant over.
