I'm curious, I'm new to antiwork and wanted to know what an ideal economy would look like for people here. Unlimited work weeks? Coming to work should only be voluntary and when you feel like, Ubi? Etc .

Hi all. I hope this is relevant to the sub, if not, mods please flag this and I’ll delete. I have a Zoom job interview and the only computer I have available to use is my work laptop. So there’s no 3rd party spyware on the computer (I know this because the IT admin who provisioned all the hardware and software is a friend.) My question is whether or not a Zoom admin can see that I joined a Zoom call that wasn’t work related. My account settings are NOT admin, but I know that I do not have cloud recording enabled. What data is available to account owners? I guess they can see a log of users joining a call but I don’t know what else is shown. I mean, I guess I don’t care if the boss knows I’m using Zoom to interview. I just don’t want to…
how hard is it to be this way?
Just a quick rant. I was working for a small company when they got bought out by a much much larger company. I had no intention of working in that kind of corporate environment but they lead me on with a sign on bonus and promises of honoring my start date with the other company so that I did not lose out on the benefits I was going to be receiving since I had been with the original company over a year. I thought “hey, the deal is I keep the sign on bonus if I make it a whole year with the new company. Since I’m trying for a baby it works out perfectly since nothing is that bad I can’t make it a year.” Well. It turns out i conceived a day before the official transfer of ownership. Within a week of the change I knew I hated…

Living wage formula proposal.
I think back to FDR and his proposal of a “living wage” not a minimum wage and I wonder to myself what it should be. I find myself thinking that the monthly wage should be based on the average rent for a 1br apartment in your county times 3 and renewed every year. This way it’s always matching peoples biggest (and most important) expense, housing. Is county specific AND it follows the rule that housing expenses should be 1/3rd of your income. Let me know your thoughts.
Small rant, just have to let it out
I did everything right. Work, education, savings. For 17 years of hard and honest work (I am 34 now, started with 17) I have NOTHING to show. I live in a 42 square meters rent apartment, own no car, nor anything else. For 17 years of did everything as I was supposed to, I have NOTHING to show. I am not a gambler, a drinker, even not a smoker. All my money goes into living half decent. Did I mention I speak 4 languages, have a degree, but also know how to work with my hands? That I am really (was) motivated worker? Where is my house, my car, my wife, and my family? For WHAT have I done all this? Even the shittiest home would massively indebt me for the rest of my life. But what do I have? Taxes, shitty work schedule, HR department from hell, and only…
