I was inspired to share my grand reward as well

This is a small story from my experience working at my last job, which I was inspired to share with the recent donette post! I recently quit my job. Multi-billion in net worth delivery logistics service here in Denmark, with the shittiest boss I've ever had the misfortune of working for, who harrassed me on my 2nd week working there, so that was fantastic. Anyhow, we were at one point told that there was an upcoming quality check some time during the year, an audit, and that it was important but my boss wasn't nervous about it. Day comes, and our depot passes with flying colours, so much so in fact, we get a letter from my boss' boss. The letter is something like, and this is paraphrasing: “Hello everyone. It's a great day for this company. I've only worked here for 10 years, and I've never seen anything like…

Happy Ending to Nightmare Boss Scenario

Just wanted to get this off my chest now that I got the good news and am receiving unemployment after being “fired” from a bad job. Background: I took a design early this year with a “startup” that was under my salary range, but came with profit sharing and partner opportunities that were exciting. However when I started, red flags started popping up immediately. First, the “office” turned out to be an 8×10 shed in the guys backyard, occupied by 2 other people already. No plumbing. Extension cord running under the door and piles of liquor bottles under the desk. The bathroom was in the house, along with his young children and his 80 year old mother in law, cisiting relatives, whoever. The bathroom door did not lock. I opted to use a ben toilet chained to a pole at a pickleball court down the street. It was supposed to…

What is that thing where coworkers virtue signal and pretend that work is is the #1 thing on their mind – “I went on vacation and was really disciplined and good about not checking my work emails!” Like what personality deficit is that?

I'm in my 40s and have worked in a variety of industries and settings and no matter where I've worked, I've always seen this sentiment. That work is a vice that they need to “discipline” themselves into not indulging in. As if making Excel spreadsheets for Karen in HR is as appealing as chocolate or video games or alcohol or other vices that you need to work to clamp down. Just hearing phrases like “I know, my wife told me to be better about not answering emails after 10 PM”. Or “Sorry, I know it's 5:30, and i already stayed late, but I've got to pick my kid up from X” implying that the only reason they have to leave is an unfortunate thing, and not that their contractually obligated day is fucking over. To me, I think these people are profoundly sick and shows something deeply wrong with society.…

Not Safe For Work

Unionize. It is not your responsibility to sacrifice for your job to stay afloat. Discuss your salary with your coworkers. Call out the bullshit of managers, HR, and owners. Your free time is your time. Look for legal representation if you feel that you are illegally exploited/abused. If a coworker is being exploited/abused, say something. Your boss isn't your friend, you are merely the help. Don't let your employers dictate your salary. Your time is what you alone dictate what it's worth. You don't have to excuse, nor explain, your unavailability on your day off. If something you feel important comes up, your job should fall to the back burner. Please add if you feel i missed something.

American capitalism is just slavery with extra steps

Title pretty much says it all. If you’re working class, you’re essentially a slave with extra steps. Sure, employers may not be able to legally whip you or kill you, but by “firing” you, the unspoken threat is to take away your housing, food, and life saving medical care, so do what you’re told or else. Also, we need more slaves, so you’ll be forced to have babies now even if you don’t want them.
