I have been working as a help desk technician, well really a front desk attendant. For no reason they fired me. No write ups, haven’t been reprimand, didn’t even receive my employee review like I was supposed to. The work I would do would be celebrated and then I’d have that role taken away. And on Friday before my shift even was over, I received a call and was told today was my last day. I thought I’d finish off m shift but no…..my computer got off-boarded immediately. So yea. They will not give you any notice before taking away your income, don’t hesitate to take your labor away. *But tbh I’m glad they fired me. I can apply for unemployment and food stamps which will provide a more fulfilling life in this city than that job did.

So my husband and I moved from UAE to Montreal. For many reasons, one being that we had a baby last year, he is the only one working. So he tried to start working in constrution and found stupid guys offering him 18$/h and not paying him. Then he did UE and found a job as restaurant manager in a restaurant here. He speaks English but has limited French. Anyway he has more than 10 years experience in this industry, worked in many countries around the world so skills are not an issue. This is not about me but I am very angry on the situation: Here is the story: Upstate NY: a friend of mine got a traveler nurse job in the beginning of the year. After 4 months was told that the position is being “reconsidered” (the contract ends at the end of August) and the contract is terminated, however the hospital is generous enough to offer her a nurse position for $22/h. My indignation is the pay!!! I understand the situation that traveler nurses are overpaid, but if you have a contract signed you can't just stop it, just because you want to stop it. About 6 months ago I accepted a job remotely about 400km away from the HQ office. Id worked for this organisation about a year earlier and had/have a great reputation there, which is one of the reasons this latest role was offered to me. The context is id moved back to my hometown where id taken another job which didn't work out.
