I started a garden nursery job a few weeks ago. I've loved it so far. I used to farm as a living before the pandemic so being outside is amazing for my soul. Anyway, the only issue is my boss. She's lovely enough but very serious. She gets on our ass about speeding up things constantly. Now, I used to work 60 hour weeks farming- I know how to do hard work and do it sustainably to prevent burn out. But she expects us to be “superstars”. Anyway the main issue is the other day I was told instead of 8-4:30 we have to work 7-5:30. This is apparently because we're so many weeks behind where we should be (which is not anyones fault but hers). So she just casually brings this up during the morning meeting, no question if we're okay with it- just expectation. I was pretty flabbergasted.…
That is all. Just needed to rant about that observation
Has anyone noticed..
Theres been a MASSIVE increase in deceptive and straight up dishonest job postings? My employer is trying to hire a receptionist, Tuesday through Saturday. They can't get a soul (they're only paying 13-16) and have now listed the job as Mon-Fri, and have said outright that they'll just tell them it's Tuesday through Saturday when they accept the job and/or interview. They've already done it multiple times, such as when they hired my office manager in March Then they interviewed someone for the office manager position three weeks later. Once she accepted, they told her that they actually filled the position and put her somewhere else entirely (Service instead of office) with a different schedule. That's not even counting the fact that this company has had more acquisitions in 3 months than Walmart has in total, but that's a whole different issue. It's not just these assholes either. My best…
I have a disabled family member that I support 100%. And I loan family some money sometimes to support an aging grandmother. (They are always good for it) I was raised by a single mother with 2 kids. When my friend was growing up after the recession of 2008, her mother supported a family of 6 on 1 income of something like 46000/yr. I am so sick and tired of the abelist bullshift BAKED IN to our governemental systems. Because yeah, 2 cashiers COULD be making a livable wage. Yeah, you COULD have a family and make rent (in some places, not here in SoCal) on 2 “average American” incomes. But I fucking cant and never fucking will be in a household with 2 incomes. It's all on me and Im scared shitless that people don't see me.
