As the title says, I attempted to take a sick day, but it didn’t work out. Our policy is to text the supervisor if you need a sick day. I’m working from home today and no patient care was disrupted so I was going to take a sick day. I suffer from chronic depression and this past week has been hell, so I thought I could use today as a “mental health day”. I messaged my supervisor in the morning and she called right after asking what was wrong and said maybe I can just stay on until noon to see how I feel after. I had to lie and say I’m having a lot of chest congestion and she said she’d bring me some tea tomorrow. I know she’s really just trying to be helpful so that we save our sick days, but now I feel obligated to stay…

So I started a New Job something I have never done before working in a fast paced potato factory on the lines and there was a lot of heavy lifting/stacking pallets involved at a fast pace which has give me so much back pain in the last 3 days so I walked out today (clocked off) at lunch time and went home have I done the right thing? I wanted it to work but I’m in so much pain that I ache when I breathe stood up and can’t stand for long with pain. Has anyone else had this sort of experience before ???

I told this job. “I only want to do picking orders. NOT production or shipping, I hate standing in one spot.” They said “that's great we have an ABUNDANCE of orders to pick. You can pick all day”. A month later, As soon as they realize I'm a competent focused worker……….. Where do you think they got me working??!!

I work in healthcare. Multiple staff have appropriately come forward and asked for earned (in my opinion) rate increases. The company is locked in at reimbursement rates that are set by the government as we primarily treat patients with Medicare, meaning the company can’t just raise the price of services with inflation. I understand that makes things difficult with reimbursement from insurance going down (15% cut this year from CMS) and employees asking for more money. As a team of mid level managers, we brought this up to our boss and the issues we are having with turnover and difficulty staffing. However, the response from Senior Management was laughable: “We know most of this country lives paycheck to paycheck. People might need to start looking at if they really need Netflix AND Hulu, and similar decisions.”

Hi all! I was hoping you could help me on that. I work at a level entry job, doing very simple tasks and most of the time doing nothing because we dont have any work. I was asked to set up goals, any idea what I could write? I have no clue, my manager who is supposed to help is too busy watching netflix to be bothered… Thank you! Edit: I dont want to set up goals that would give them ideas… I realized super quickly with them that the less I do, the less they are asking of me
