I work in a warehouse in for an airport in Southern California. The inside of the small warehouse is air conditioned, but I’m outside handling deliveries and organizing for a lot of the shift. So instead of wearing BLACK PANTS in the 100+ degree weather (it was also super humid yesterday), I decided to wear black shorts because it doesn’t matter. Well company’s current dress code has existed for 20 years, and it has to be followed, and not following it is disrespectful to the company. Oh you say it’s a ridiculous rule that doesn’t change anything or matter at all? “That can be said about a lot of thing. There’s stuff I don’t want to do that I have to do”. Yeah but that’s paperwork and inputting info and answering emails. Clothing choice, especially one as minor as WEARING SHORTS, honestly and truly does not matter
Month: June 2022
Been at the same job since early 2022, wages are salary with benefits. Granted this is a small company (under a dozen people), but I often will come in early, have stayed past regular hours and even work weekend shifts to help with workload. GM is out of the office today, so I brought up the topic of requesting days off with other people in the office. When I was hired on, I was told I would get “5-10 vacation days, but I need to talk with the owners, they should be in town soon”. That was 4 months ago. I've been in sales and I know a stalling tactic when I see and hear one. Worst part is I don't think the owners care because they are retired and live in Florida. I am requested early November, over 6 months in advance. One of the other employees (been here…
Boss angry with me for calling out sick.
I work at a hospital and work with various sick patients. A lot of which have covid. I started to not feel good and called my boss. She had me come in to a local location (not the hospital) to take a covid test which was negative. She said she expected me at work since it wasn't covid. I had a horrible fever and vomiting and i told her uh no, I won't be coming in, I cant even walk straight. She was really mad and denied my vacation for next month as a way to “make up for lost reliability” I'm so pissed, like I understand if I called out sick and was just messing around but I've been legitimately sick as hell. Not to mention a lot of the patients I work with are elderly and going in for surgery. I mean???
Anon pulls a sickie
TLDR : I had to leave early due to possible COVID. Part timer doesn't want to work overtime because he has personal matter at home. Manager got pissed and resulting him quitting (allegedly since I'm not there in person when it happened). Manager proceeds to get stressed out because of lack of manpower and tells me to come in tomorrow unless my condition is really serious. Disclaimer: This is going to be a very long post. I've been working as an admin in a home improvement store for about one month now. The place is generally fine, ok pay, cool coworkers, kinda heavy workload with having to understand their complex business systems on a years old computer that probably disintegrates when I open more than 2 chrome tabs but manageable to say the least. The only problem there, is the manager. She's your typical bossy boomer lady that wants everything…
Mom is being verbally abused at work
Hello everyone, I would like to ask for a bit of advice as I am still a teen and don‘t have much work experience. So my mom has been working at this company for 3 years now and there‘s this colleague that tries to literally sabotage her any chance she gets (keep in mind my mom works her ass off and she actually does a good job and gets a lot of praise from her boss). For example today that colleague organised a meeting JUST to talk about how useless my mom is and i‘m not even kidding. We’re both convinced it’s because of the fact that we’re foreigners. She came home crying. Now my question is, what can she do? She has no proof her colleague is verbally abusing her and her boss will surely not do much. She is currently contemplating changing companies which sucks because the pain…
My husband's boss has him out on the beach planting plants with a metal shovel in a lightning storm. This makes me so angry because my husband is alone and if something were to happen nobody would even know and his boss refuses to let him leave. What the hell is wrong with this guy. I told my husband to just come home but he doesn't want to lose his job, because he wants to have a backup in place before. This cannot be legal.
